A TV upgrade would be much more beneficial. Save this money and put it towards an OLED. That will be an absolute game changer for you. The PS5 Pro is such a small upgrade. I say that as a huge PS5 fan, who really wanted a Pro, until I saw it in action. I can't justify spending hundreds more for a little better version of something I'm already very happy with.
Just remember the PS5 Pro doesn't come with the disc drive.

They can be had fairly easily now though at or below MSRP after the scalping fiasco last year, but you will be adding $70-$90 on top of this price.
Have base PS5 and recently got the Pro bc I needed a 2nd console and it fit my budget, so made sense to just go w/ the latest gen. It's not worth the upgrade if you already got PS5, the Pro basically delivers base PS5 Quality Mode-level graphics in Performance Mode. It's also borderline unconscionable for Sony to use same CPU in the Pro as the 5yr old base PS5.

Why would you need a drive? There's no data on the disc, if they shut the game down, the disc won't work anyway. Used prices are the only case to be made. My point is, it's a waste of money, last 3 ps console I've never put a disc in. PS4, ps4pro, ps5. Not to mention disc take up an enormous amount of space.
That is horrible advice! Most of the discs on the PS5 especially any first party or 3rd party console exclusives the data is on the disc. You just have to download it from the disc and can play iwthout any online connection. The separate disc drive needs a one time initialization but most of the discs can play straight from the disc drive once dowloaded. Yeah some have bugs and a few things like skins missing but for the most part they can play. There is a whole site on what games work from PS5. https://www.doesitplay.org

If you have access to Navy base, the NX is selling Ps5 Pro for $629.99 and no tax. However, inventory looks limited and restricted to pick up only. Not sure if AAFES will price match.

paid 630 for mine from GameStop day of launch, got 10% discount, but this is a good deal, same deal as mine, but no tax. I did pay another 50 in tax, but no regrets.

A little late to the party ps5, Sony has played us all

What, you don't like paying extra to be a beta tester for low end versions of PS6 features? 🤣

Consoles are going the same route as cell phones companies did with SD card. Remove it, then charge you ridiculous for storage, make you believe it's the best thing for the future, keep the price same or higher. All the while people keep buying whatever is thrown at them. Can't even blame companies for pulling off these scams.

Why the drive you got separately? How come they didn't include the Disc drive included with a $700 price tag?

Because they know there are a lot of suckers out there.

Is it worth the upgrade over the regular ps5?
Why would somebody, let alone six people, downvote this legitimate question?

If you want to play base PS5 games on quality mode at 60 fps instead of 30 fps, then the Pro will be a noticeable upgrade.

Many people are saying they don't notice much difference in graphics but fail to mention the _framerate_.

60 fps vs 30 fps is a significant and 100% noticeable upgrade.

The Pro has only been released for just over 6 months now. Games are definitely starting to leverage the added power of the Pro.

Take a look at Digital Foundry's review of Monster Hunter Wilds (a game released Feb 2025) for the PS5 Pro. It's obvious the Pro version is superior to the base.

I'm not here to argue the price, lots of factors involved there, but there's definitely benefits to the Pro.

Let's not forget about the 2TB SSD the Pro includes. That's a $150-200 addon right there on top of base pricing.

$450 slim disc PS5 + $150 2TB SSD = $600

You can also place blame on Microsoft for not releasing a mid cycle refresh and Nintendo for for taking too long to release the Switch 2.

Agreed ... I have multiple PS4 Pro and PS5 Pro. Compared to the original and slim models of both, I've found less errors and console failure. I strongly believe the Pro consoles are made better and last longer.
Yeah my son is 9 and is wanting to play my PS5 more than his Switch, so I'm thinking of getting a pro, and giving him my base.

I don't suppose anyone knows when this sale ends? I'm still waiting to see if the $100 credit AMEX offer will pop up in my new account and Dell's site does say "TEMPORARILY" out of stock.

When GTA6 comes out next year and still won't be on PC on day 1, then the PS5 pro will show its worth, until then, its a small marginal improvement over the base PS5

not really cause you priced in a 2 TB SSD when it's an additional 1 TB more than slim and price for those are like $60-70, not $150 more.
