ALL Insta360 cameras overheat really fast when at max resolution. During the summer this one will shut down due to thermal overload in 2-3 minutes. The X3 did the same for me. The X2 did the same for me. Even the new X5 does the same! You can only use max resolution without fear of thermal shutdown if it is literally snowing outside and you're moving pretty fast to increase wind chill and aid in cooling of the camera's surface. You basically are stuck using medium resolution or medium-low resolution if you don't want it to randomly shut off due to thermal overload all the time. I kept trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and get the newer one each time thinking to myself "they have to have fixed the overheating problem with the new generation" but I was sorely mistaken every single time from the X2 all the way to the X5. Check all the reviews, YouTube, and any other review site and you'll see LOTS of people sharing my same experience with all the Insta360 models.

Not really. Because of the 360 nature, it involves framing and exporting. He could use it in single lens mode, but I think a GoPro would be better at that point.

Is this cheaper in store than online. Or is there an instant manufacturing coupon? If it is always 359, why is this a deal? Great item for content creators for TT or IG. Portrait mode is default and very sleek and easy to use compared to a phone.

As another has mentioned, it's a 360 camera so the image quality is going to take a hit. If he doesn't have a need for that feature, look at the Action 4 camera from DJI...the bundle often goes on sale for $200 at Costco.

I bought mine 3/25/25. Costco website says "For members other than resellers, purchases that reduce in price within 30 days of the date of purchase are eligible for a price adjustment. Products that have promotional item limits will be eligible up to the limit quantity." Did you call a rep for the return ?
