For what it's worth, GMKtec, Beelink, Minisforum are the bigger brands in this space. I have a GMKtec HX 370 EVO X1 I use as a low power consumption server. I ran full scans of everything, nothing. PC came with no bloatware at all. I would stay away from AceMagic though…
This video should help. He tests games and emulation during the 2nd half of his vids. Some of the vid is with the igpu and also some dgpu tests.

If you're really THAT paranoid about someone stealing your identity and getting all your personal info, better not install Windows 11!

Been researching these machines for the past two months and settled on this exact model, albeit with 16gb. It can occasionally be cheaper on Walmart's website.

The fans are very loud at full blast. Other than that, no issues at all. I got it specifically because it's the cheapest machine on the market with an oculink port (that doesn't take up an m.2 slot like on the minisforum models). Runs great with a 3090fe using the DEG1 dock.

If you don't need oculink, there are better mini pc options... many of them with coupons on Amazon. If you're not gaming, for $80 more, you're in m4 Mac mini territory, which will crush any of these mini PCs at that price.

Sony didn't same thing a while back. So it's not only a Chinese thing.

LG and Samsung had it in their TV's as well.

This exactly what I did after I got mine a few years ago, I checked it with some antivirus and found nothing, kept doing that and monitoring the internet usage for a couple of weeks before I logged into anything, haven't had a problem for a little over 2 years now, so they are either playing the long term strategy or there isn't malware in it, I didn't check the BiOs though, that didn't come to mind.
China's Ministry of State Security can deploy malware via a supply chain attack without the manufacturer's knowledge or simply pay for backdoor access, as the NSA did with tech companies. For the average citizen, countermeasures against a determined state actor with unlimited resources are almost impossible.

512GB SSD might be limiting if you plan on installing many games or large applications; upgrading to a 1TB NVMe would be idea

Best to install Windows yourself. If you're not able to, run a couple antivirus full system checks at least.
antivirus don't do shit now. either patch your windows, or you are running naked
