Does anyone know if there's a way to look up if these are easily shuckable? If so, what white label drive is inside? I Googled around with a lot of mixed results and misinformation.

Make sure you know about the power button on these before buying.

It's just a gimped WD Red drive white label inside. They are easily shucked. The price isn't great though, a solid "Meh".

$200/14tb WD easystore was the go-to deal for a while, usually from Best Buy. Seems like the price has been stagnant for a while.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy, I've got probably 6-8 shucked drives in my server of varying capacities.

Why meh? The standard used to be $15/TB, which these are. Is there a new SD Community price/TB for it to be good?

look up 24TB 26TB 28TB on here. Looks like WD was as low as $9.30/TB and some are even $11.50/TB

Doesn't seem $15/TB is the standard anymore

My book 14tb was 160 just a week before. My book is superior to elements which is WD lower grade line.

Plus free returns
2 year warranty

I'm sure "Times have changed" but this unit was $200 just last week and paid $200 back in 2022 for the same drive. It's a deal, but it's nothing extraordinary.

This is MSRP at this point. A quick google search and they come up cheaper elsewhere. Not a deal.

Total Crap deal IMO.

I paid less for 18TB, and $70 more (each) for 20TB which included a WD SN770 1TB SSD thrown in for "free"

This is WD screwing people for old tech that long ago paid back any R&D costs. IMO this is a horrible deal.

Not to mentions I'm only buying 20TB and up at this point, but if these were $75 each I might consider it...

Then 18TBs were on sale for $200 last year. So getting a 14TB for the same price is not a good deal.
