How does this compare to the Yamaha ATS-1090 refurb that's still available from BrandsMart for $50? Anyone have experience with both?
I don't know how they directly compare but the Yamaha is ok, doesn't seem to get particularly loud though. Not sure if it was just the sources I was using (I use it for music in the garage tbf, not a TV)

Are these seamless with TCL tvs? In terms of volume control. I have a TCL 6 series (2019 Rpku) and Newer 8 series with Google TV

Missed out on the $59 clearance from Best Buy. This will have to do... I've been waiting for this to drop for a bit. Hope I don't experience the drop outs other users have experienced.

Would this be possible to hook up to desktop computer? Such as the green cable plug-in for sound. It doesn't seem to say it is usable for this. Or hooked up to computer monitor with HDMI? I do have a two monitor setup though, so not sure how that would work.
I used to have a cheaper TCL version (about $100 MSRP, Alto 5 maybe?), and it connected to my computer with Bluetooth. Worked fairly well, but my old standard 2.1 speakers were better. Point being, yes, it should work with your desktop. I could have used a standard line-in cable with it, also.
[edit] This one does NOT have the aux line-in cable connection. It does have an optical cable though, if your desktop supports that.

Rtings review. Seems like Atmos is in name only which isn't surprising at this price point...

Edit, Disregard, I missed this note in the review. Thanks to MasterGamer100 for correcting me

"Note: It seems that TCL has discontinued this version of the TCL 8+. In 2021, the manufacturer released the TCL Alto 8+ (TS8212), which is a 2.1.2 setup, and the TCL Alto 8+ (TS813), which is a 3.1.2 setup. Our results aren't representative for these setups."

Anyone know if this is dual voltage or not? I'm guessing no, but I can't confirm either with TCL's website or any other sellers.

[edit] Received mine yesterday. The sub IS dual voltage, which is exciting (moving to Germany this summer). I didn't look at the soundbar yet but seems probable that it is as well. Awesome!

Wrong version it's the 2.1 version not this 2.1.2 version which has two up firing speakers for actual Atmos

This looks similar to what I have in the master br. I got it last time for the same price IIRC but in-store-only. I'll confirm the model when I get home, but it's decent for a bedroom piece.

I don't have an exact comparison, but I used to have a Yamaha ATS-1080 then switched to a Vizio V-series 2.1 (mini subwoofer) and the subwoofer makes a huge difference -- I am so much happier with the Vizio. The Yamaha was fine, but 2.0 lacks any real bass. A dedicated subwoofer just makes the sound so much richer and dynamic for movies and music. I can't imagine going back to 2.0 now and I say this as someone who is not at all a bass-head (I actually dial down my subwoofer a bit).

Easy recommend.. i got this around the $100 mark if i remember right.. I use it with my main TV and sound is pretty amazing.. huge improvement if you are going from TV sound to this.. My only gripe is once a month, it doesn't start up with my TV and i have to restart it..

I bought Sonos Beam (Gen 2) for $290 from Costco, along with TCL Q77 TV. The sound is not bad. Is this TCL sound bar as good as Sonos Beam, for $200 less? Does anyone have any comment? I never owned TCL sound bar, so I don't know...

"actual atmos" all fluff
all these sound bars that advertised atmos but its all in the front sound stage is fluff. marketing. You dont get atmos. You just get another 2 speakers that just makes you think things are louder. Atmos is supposed to be directional/height/position and only present in scenes that are designed to have it. So you feel like you are in the action. Regular consumers just get caught up in specs, pay more for something that wont even execute properly. All these type of "ATMOS" sound bars say the sound will BOUNCE off the ceiling and then which means will properly produce the sound that you are meant to be heard as if it was a real atmos setup where the speaker is physically in the top back right/left or front top right/left aimed towards you. come on bruhhhh

This is same with those 5.1 soundbars but its only 1 bar and no physical speakers behind/side of you lol.

Anything is better than the built in tv speakers of flat screens these days,, but i hate that companies are making people think they got something that actually can compete with real AVR and properly placed speakers.
