Have had this model for 2 years now.
Use in combo with a color laser for photos and other things lasers do not print as well.
Have printed a ton on it. Finally having to fill the black. All colors are still a half tank.
I do run a scheduled task to print a full color test page weekly to keep print heads from drying out. Sitting is an inkjets killer.

Have owned this printer for a year or two. Have not had any issues. EcoTank is great - could never go back to cartridges.

So I've been trying to find something I can setup at my mom's so she can print and scan from her iPhone. I checked out the Epson Smart Panel app and it offers both features so I believe this checks off my two requirements. The only thing I'm not educated on is this tank system - never heard of it. Is it ideal for someone that might print something once a month or should I stick to laser?

She's old and doesn't have a daily need for this but time and time again we've been in situations where we wish she had access to a printer/scanner.

Laser is a better choice if she only prints a couple times a month.

I have an ecotank, not this exact model but close enough, and the print heads have been an issue for a while. It is not a case of not printing enough, maybe the opposite-- I have like 5000 sheets printed on this thing. Anyway, I can run the maintenance print head clean or power clean, and it will print good for somewhere between 2-5 prints before lines start appearing again. Anyway, I like the ink costs enough to consider buying another one, but having a non-replaceable print head that could be a permanent problem is kind of scaring me away from the refurb even with the guarantee.

How do you run a scheduled task? Also I'm annoyed I just bought the 2400 which seems to have less features but cost $190??? This post says original price for 2850 is $170???

This is a refurbished one, thus the lower original price.
And according to RTINGS.com, 2400/4800 has better color. I have been eying on 4800 for a while now and kicking myself for not buying $140 refurbished during last black Friday sales.

Paid $170 for this printer just 3 days ago on Amazon. So I started the return and Amazon offered a partial refund instead...

I have this one for couple years. No complaints beside the weekly maintenance print. I always forget and ended up having to clean the nozzles. The photos printed out by this machine is much better than ones i got from walgreen photos. Ink lasts so long, i only have to refill the black one so far. With this price and warranty, it's definitely a great deal

Will this print Super A3 size 13x19? Looking for something replace my Workforce cartridge printer so I can get away from cartridges for a sublimation printer. Also as far as purge tray, does is machine have a purge tray that will eventually need reset?

I have so many printers that I have bought in estate sales, they usually come included with a bundle of pc stuff. Currently using one of the HP 6800 series with a CISS system that only needs to be refilled once a year but lately has been giving me issues since it is about 6 years old( the CISS). This Epson would be nice solely for the fact that it is all built-in and not gerry-rigged looking with the external tanks.

Damn, I snoozed and losed. But thanks much; this thread convinced me that due to minimal usage I should wait for a laser on sale.

looks like the 3850 also has a maintence tank that is user replaceable, while 2850 is internal and would need company servicing / become waste. went with this deal thx
