I bought, at least a similar set recently. They are cheap feeling pretty flimsy, but functional. Not sure about safety or longevity, but they work(with arms reaching in to touch the screws on the sides of an outlet). Obviously they won't work with a gfi outlet(normally by water), and they don't come with screws so you'll have to cannibalize your old ones. Also, they seem to be slightly smaller than a normal outlet cover, so if the drywall is cut too big, or the paint is different, you'll have to deal with that.

curious how these are tapping into the socket from the inside, are they generally safe?

They are like $21 in Walmart so not a great deal but way better than the snap brand which is $110 for five. I'll order and see how they work out

They just have a springy contact that sits against the screw on the side of the outlet. This design came from a kickstarter a long time ago and I think the original product is UL/ETL certified. I don't know about the clones.

If these are similar to the ones Aldi had some years ago then they're great. Those actually weren't flimsy at all and I ve had several in my current and previous home that have been going for years now.

from one amazon anecdote; 1 year update: One started blinking strobing. Another one has one bulb almost dimmer and not as bright as the other 2. I don't recommend.

Seems easier just to put a four or six plug converter with USB that you just plug straight in and then add a night light with motion sensing to one of the plugs.
