The 2nd year is not through Apple but with Costco concierge services

bought one here due to 2nd year warranty and no taxes at portland, since the other site that is 800 charges taxes on washington state. (i live on the WA side of portland)

Thank you OP for this! The extra $50 discount (off of $500 purchase) is part of the dads & grade promotion, good from 5/31 to 6/8/25, and only applies to select products, which the 512gb MacBook Air M4 model qualifies. Great to save a bit more on the 512gb model since Apple charges so much for extra storage.

The short answer is no.

The long answer:
  • Assuming it's a non-Costco credit card, your 2nd year warranty through the credit card and through Costco will run in parallel. So, no, neither coverage will extend into the 3rd year. You will just have a choice which coverage (Costco's or the credit card's) to use in the 2nd year.
  • If it is a Costco credit card, it may be different (even though I doubt it). On computers in general, Costco used to extend the warranty to 4 years if you used their credit card to make the purchase. But I don't think they do anymore (and they may never have on Macbooks).

I bought one yesterday, with the citi costco card. I found lots of old info stating the citi card added 2 years, to a total of 4 years. I couldn't find any recent info to say that was still the case though. EDIT looks like it ended in 2023. I should have used chase sapphire preferred to add 1 extra year though.
