We've owned this for 4 years now. Use it multiple times a year. Yes - you may get a few grinds in your coffee if you're clumsy. But you're camping... who the heck cares?

Negatives:
- It's too narrow to balance safely (still do it but it's risky) on some stoves.
- It's common to slosh grounds/water when you start to plunge.
- The plastic lid can melt so it's best to leave it off (which wastes fuel) while you're boiling the water.
- And finally, the whole workflow is wrong.
For true French press you're supposed to add the (fresh, course) grounds to the French press. Then dampen the grounds with hot (~200F) water. Let those bloom, then add the rest and let steep for 4ish minutes. However, with this unit they expect that you'll just dump the grounds into the water you just boiled. That's not right.
So I end up carrying a thermos bottle. I boil the water, pour into thermos, then prep the grounds in the stanley "pot". It works (again, taking note of the above issues), but honestly the whole reason I bought this in the first place was to have a compact, all-in-one kit. Which, when you factor in the extra thermos, this is not.
I have an aeropress but I'm not a fan of the plastic it sheds. I think next I'm going to try a folding cone filter holder (paper filters). Then I can use the pot I always bring for water/pasta etc...
