Absolutely worth every penny, ESPECIALLY if you have a VR headset. Fantastic game, tons of replay value, the graphics are great (VR it's even sharper/cleaner), and great fun for a party of four. I'm not a fan of DnD/Magic/Etc but this was "simple enough" for me to pick up to play with my buddies who are. No leveling (aside from one characters pet), everyone starts fresh every time, and you can pick up and learn the game in one playthrough -- then get better/tactical the more you play. Each "Book" is 3 stages, two dungeons and one boss level. Average playtime is 40m to 1.5hr depending on difficulty and mods. Can save and quit at any time. I've only purchased a handful of VR games that I kept coming back to, and this is one of them.
Yeah the VR on this is amazing...the detail on the figures is unmatched. My problem is how ridiculously difficult it is and how limited the cards are. There are no real upgrades and the game punishes you for exploring. That said, I think it's worth it for the experience alone because there is nothing else quite like it. Crooked Crown is close, but it's a distant second since you can't move the table around like you can with this.
Paid full price for it on the Oculus Quest during the pandemic and played it quite a lot with random people. Lots of fun but it was really difficult. Great experience though, definitely worth it at this price if it can be played in VR.
Good deal - easy purchase choice for my SD. Fun and quick(ish) games. I got it during the preview in Quest VR and it's fun but there's nothing inherently VR-centric about it (that I can discern…I haven't played it in pancake mode). I actually expect to prefer it in pancake as the games are a bit long to just sit with the headset on without any true VR interaction.
I'd agree at times it does feel like it's punishing you for exploring, if you have PCVR or if the host does, have them grab HouseRules mod which will allow you to disable enemy spawning. That'll give it a more "dungeon clearer" vibe, and speed the game up a bit. Allows you to go through each dungeon completely without feeling like it's never ending onslaughts.
