I see people talk bad about the Skullcrushers, but I think people need to realize that these aren't audiophile grade headphones, nor as they marketed as such. These fall into the "fun" category for headphones. These have a sound-profile that is fun. If you grew up like my girlfriend and I did, with fathers that had sound systems and subwoofers in their trunks, these will remind you of that. I also want to note that these headphones are significantly better sound-wise than the prior generation Skullcrushers. Not only do these just have a better overall sound - but the bass boosting functionality is much better on these.

I did the whole "spend $600 on an audiophile headphone/amp/dac" thing back in 2016 and I ultimately ended up selling my entire audiophile setup and kept my Sony XB950N1's. I recently picked up a pair of these Skullcrushers and some Sony Ult Wears as well. I prefer the "fun" sound signatures.

Maybe they got better over the years, but back when skullcrusher had those little tiny battery power amps....yea...the bass rattled. They were bad. Really bad.

I don't have anything against these as just "fun" basshead headphones. I do hate these and most bluetooth headphones like it for the tiny ear cups (and cramped headbands). I just don't enjoy my ears being scrunched up inside them. Unfortunately all ANC headphones seem to be "travel sized" across the entire market.

I like my Sennheiser HD 599 SE and wish there were ANC headphones in its size.

I totally agree with you. I tested out the prior generation - the ones that had the wires connecting from the headband to the cups and they were genuinely bad. This newer interation is significantly better sound wise. Even if the "bass" is primarily generated by a vibration motor. They did a much, much better job with it this go around.
