The Costco ones scratch and scuff freshly polished paint surfaces. I quit using and recommending them.

I'm wondering the same thing. I have the Costco yellow ones that I got for cleaning CDs and DVDs. Unfortunately, they leave silvery fibers everywhere, even after multiple washings and drying.

The yellow microfiber clothes from Costco are the biggest bang for your buck. Also note that the size of the cloth in this deal is only 12.5" x 12.5", relatively small.

Why not? Too small and poor quality?

These are typically 14 x 14. Lowes has a 50-pack for $14. Not long ago they were on clearance for $5.

All microfibers are a plastic fiber. However not all microfibers are the same. They have varying amounts of polyester and polyamide. Usually the higher % of polyamide the softer and more absorbent the towel is. Kirklands are 80/20 polyester/polyamide. These are unknown (probably 100% polyester). And of course the quality of the fibers matters too. Like I'm sure we all know not all 100% cotton t-shirts are alike.
