This a great lightweight drill and impact driver set from Metabo. I actually prefer this set over the a similar brushless Bosch18V set from Lowes since they're more compact and have a bit more power. Just note, the drill chuck can get loose on the higher speed if you suddenly release the trigger.

I too have a Bosch set and this set. While the Bosch set has held up and given zero issues, I much prefer to use the metabos. Well built, better chuck, faster, more responsive to trigger pressure, better LED light setup.

I got this set at Lowes for $62. Check it first. The app didn't show any in stock, but my store had plenty.

I am sure Metabo HPT has many different models for drill and impact driver and each of them may have different durability. Although I don't have this set, I got a different set around 7 or 8 yrs ago from Lowe's. They are used daily under home construction condition. They still works. One thing to note is about their warranty. I had to use it ones for the drill, because my worker accidentally used it to drill some very thick lumber and forcing the drill to it. It stopped working afterward. I had to pay for shipping to mail in, and they ship it back for free.
According to the diagnostic, it wasn't the motor that got burned, it was some kind on/off switch inside that got burned. Not the trigger switch.
Up to this day, the drill and batteries still work. It is definitely last longer than I expected based on all the "rough use" we had. We also have M18 fuel, Bosch and Ridgid. For most common use, I think Metabo HPT will do just fine.

I wish they would change the drill chuck to something much more reliable

It's such a huge PITA being up on a ladder and your bit goes flying down since it got loose

None of the other cordless drills that I have do this, and the torque matches the Metabo unit, it's just a terrible drill chuck

I was actually looking into changing the chuck but the cost to get a better one wasn't worth the cost of the tool. Röhm was the brand I was looking at, but I couldn't find an exact match to this Metabo HPT model. That said, I stopped using the higher speed and that was the best option since I dropped a drill bit more than once from a ladder...and recovering those bits wasn't a fun time.

I recently bought the Bosch 18V Brushless set from Lowe's that was on sale for $150 and added a mid torque impact wrench, and even though the Bosch on paper is good, the Metabo actually feels like a better built drill and impact driver. Just wish the chuck was better on the drill.

2.0 Ah is weak. This is for the part -time do-it-yourselfer who needs something to screw in a couple of screws fast. These batteries do not last long at all.

I recently purchased a Metabo multivolt track saw and have been pleased as pie. It's so good that it has me taking a serious look at their lineup of other tools.

Do you know if I will be able to see a lower price by just toggling the location on lowes.com? Or online and offline price can differ?
