Nope I use mine in the Pacific Northwest. Zero issues in fact the high top version is just as good but it's not called speed cross 6
Probably too aggressive tread for me for desert hiking/running.
EDIT: weird, my ublock or privacy extension was preventing the shoe size selection from showing up.

No.. these aren't labeled GTX
I didn't notice much difference in grip compared to normal molded cleats.
For the 6, based on the below, it sounds like they have decreased the stack height.
So I'm officially going to give them a try.
