I forgot I still had a deal alert setup for kindle scribe as I bought one a couple months ago whenever the last prime day sale was. I paid a bit more than this as it was only 20% off list price. Thanks for the reminder to remove my deal alert, and I'll just say to anyone who is on the fence about these, they're great devices and I like the larger screen much more than my old kindle paperwhite that I traded in.

If you primarily read, get the Kindle Scribe. If you mainly write, the Remarkable will be better although there are even better options like the Supernote Manta or Viwoods AiPaper. They will give you much more options to organize your notes and it is much easier to transfer notes from and to your device.

I use Alexa, Kindle paperwhite, and Fire TV stick, and they're all fine I'm perfectly content with them, but frankly I could never imagine spending any amount of real money on an Amazon product, no matter how high-quality the device is itself, simply because of how readily they treat your device as a platform for their advertising. I'm not going to pay someone else real money to sit through their advertising for them.

Depends on whether you are looking for reading or writing hardware. For reading, the best experience might be with Kobo Libra devices. The hardware is good and the native reading software is supposedly better (though I don't have personal experience with it). That being said, Kindle has faster processors on their latest devices and Colorsoft has marginally better colors than the Kobo Libra Color. So the best reading experience might just be a jailbroken kindle paperwhite or colorsoft (as long as you don't care about page turn buttons), because KOReader software is just crazy good in the amount of customization it provides and the features it gives (perhaps too much). I have a colorsoft and I jailbroke it. I've frozen the Amazon updates and am never upgrading further. After getting used to KOReader, I can't go back to regular Kindle software.

For writing hardware, the Remarkable 2 is supposedly leagues ahead of the scribe. But it's expensive. For the money, the Scribe seems to be the best option right now (i.e. when it's on sale)

The remarkable is extremely easy to transfer documents, just import it into the computer application and it'll appear within seconds. It has worked flawlessly since I got my pro on day 1

Maybe, but the only difference between gen 1 and gen 2 is the upgraded pen. The processor and software are exactly the same.

In addition to the upgraded pen, I believe the newer model's screen also has a different texture (supposedly more paper-like) and white/flush bezel. And it comes in 2 color choices.

Ugh, caved and got one. I know note taking is significantly gimped on the scribe but I can't justify the remarkable or the manta given the cost. On the plus side, I got an extra 15% off with the GETKINDLE15 coupon.

I think I can get this down to about $215 -- tempted, but hard pressed to figure out how I'd use it. I like the idea, but I like to just forget things instead of notating them.
