I forgot I still had a deal alert setup for kindle scribe as I bought one a couple months ago whenever the last prime day sale was. I paid a bit more than this as it was only 20% off list price. Thanks for the reminder to remove my deal alert, and I'll just say to anyone who is on the fence about these, they're great devices and I like the larger screen much more than my old kindle paperwhite that I traded in.

If you primarily read, get the Kindle Scribe. If you mainly write, the Remarkable will be better although there are even better options like the Supernote Manta or Viwoods AiPaper. They will give you much more options to organize your notes and it is much easier to transfer notes from and to your device.

If anyone has used the Remarkable for note taking and to read books, and also compared to the Scribe, can you please share your opinion on which one is better? TY.

I am a little leery of Paperwhite, ever since the 2014 model I got had its battery go bad in less than 3 years of *extremely light* use. I don't know if mine was an isolated incident.

Thank you.

Remarkable great for note taking. Reading ok, but not like the kindle.

I believe this is gen2, and what you are mentioning is likely a 1st gen device.

$299

in the best scenario, amazon device cb 15% + prime visa 10% + trade-in 20% = 45% off

so you will be paying $165 + tax

But I will wait for sales on regular kindle on prime day! This one is too heavy.

I've found this guy's site to be a pretty well updated and neutral comparison across all the vendors: https://ewritable.net/brands/
He uses a Supernote day to day (which can load the Kindle app)- which has the global text-to-OCR and global search the Kindle apparently still lacks. It's just too expensive, I don't want an iPad-cost e-paper device I'm worried about losing, additionally most of these (such as the Supernote and the Scribe) suck for security reasons, no encryption on them if stolen, so it depends what kind of data you'll be writing into these things.

- reMarkable 2 is for writers, thinkers, and paper-to-digital junkies who want the best note-taking experience with minimal distractions.
- Kindle Scribe is for readers who want Kindle functionality with solid note-taking on the side—better for reading, weaker for serious writing workflows.

Looks like it's an offering by a well known CB site when you buy an amazon device.

Thanks. I didn't know the CB options. Trying the Scribe again for this price (190 + tax) - had returned the Jade version since I had refresh issues.

Do these have ads?

No adds on mine! And there is no option to get discount for "with adds" either.

Not sure why they have the "3 month kindle unlimited" option, because I got mine without the subscription, applied 20% off with trade in, and the device included the 3 month Kindle unlimited anyway. YMMV

Finally got one. Signed up for the Amazon Credit card, got $170 reward, 20% trade in, but only 5% cb. I did try the 15% cb on the popular cb site so let's see if that goes through as well.

Is there a knock off version that's equivalent in features? I don't need an e-reader but mostly for taking notes , hw
