I forgot I still had a deal alert setup for kindle scribe as I bought one a couple months ago whenever the last prime day sale was. I paid a bit more than this as it was only 20% off list price. Thanks for the reminder to remove my deal alert, and I'll just say to anyone who is on the fence about these, they're great devices and I like the larger screen much more than my old kindle paperwhite that I traded in.

If you primarily read, get the Kindle Scribe. If you mainly write, the Remarkable will be better although there are even better options like the Supernote Manta or Viwoods AiPaper. They will give you much more options to organize your notes and it is much easier to transfer notes from and to your device.

Is it against some policy to post where you got the cb?

I'm looking for that "popular cb site"

20% trade in only works on one device
And I believe only once per calendar quarter, so if you already got the discount, need to wait until July 1 to get it again.

I have the previous gen kindle scribe. I agree with comments saying that the writing experience is pretty basic. No advanced tools or management tools like on other writing devices. Furthermore, I think even the Kindle reading experience has fallen behind.

The Kindle reading experience is functional but it is missing even basic things like ability to turn hyphenation off. Ir being able to turn publisher fonts off (some books won't allow you to change fonts on Kindle). Or options to invert tap zones etc.

Fact is that the Kindle is popular because they have the biggest e-book store and they optional have good sales that get even better with the 20% trade in discount. However, because of that success Amazon has been coasting on the OS features. Yes, a reading device doesn't need too many fancy features, but it would be nice to at least have a few more than the very basic ones.

I purchased the older version of the kindle scribe (included case, charger, and premium pen for $270 after trade in of a paperwhite) primarily for tutoring and being able to send hand written notes on the fly. For that basic purpose, it is actually quite good. Each student (or in other peoples' cases, each file folder) contains all of the "pages" of notes. Albeit, my use case was as basic as they come (I dont need OCR).

It was way too heavy to use for casually reading, and I still use my other 2nd gen paperwhite for that. The scribe does work well if you read on the treadmill.

I did not get the RM2 because it cost a princely sum more.

Can anyone elaborate on this 15% CB site? Or give a general direction where to look. It's obviously not the one I am thinking of. Thanks

It is sad you can't get 20% trade-in discount when you opt for the 3-month Kindle Unlimited.

I got the option without KU. But when I activated the device, I got the option and signed up for it. Just get the "without" version.

For anyone wondering, the Amazon renewed store (on and off stock) has the official used cases. I got one and it stank to heaven. Was about to return it and forgot it outside. Smell was gone after 2 days. So, that's an option. The unit looks really good but it came with what appears to be a 1/2 cockroach eggs. 😂 Nothing alcohol swab can't fix

I managed to convince my job to get me the Supernote Manta and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The writing experience is extremely close to writing on paper, and the UI is intuitive once you learn all the gestures. The real-time handwriting transcription works great too, even with my relatively sloppy handwriting. It's not perfect, but it's quite good.

I was ultimately deciding between the Remarkable and the Manta but the Manta seemed to best it in almost every category. I liked the ability for the Supernote devices to be repairable, and the ceramic lifetime nibbed pens were also a plus. I'd used traditional hard rubber tipped styluses in the past and am not a fan.

I will say that obtaining the Remarkable is considerably easier since it's sold at a couple retailers online, whereas the Supernote devices can only be purchased directly from Supernote. There's also a ton of aftermarket Remarkable accessories, but virtually none from Supernote. You've got the included case (in maybe two colors?), a handful of pen options and that's it. Maybe aftermarket support will come down the line, but the Remarkable pretty much dominates the market so that's what everybody makes things for.

Added if you like to listen to eBook, get a cheap Kindle tablet or any Android tablet and install free apps ReadEra. The Google TTS engineer is very human.

I already got a mod notice for naming the site in this thread, they really get upset about it (even though they provide zero cash back benefit to us in this example).

There are cb super sites that monitor/aggregate the amounts of all other sites that can help you make a decision of which site is best for a particular store. But, I'm not naming any specific site due the policy.
