You've never cleaned your bathtub or shower? You WASH yourself in those…and they also need to be WASHED…
Kind of - I've used many a variety of dishwasher, washing machine, etc pods/pucks/etc that all claim they do the same general thing, but the one thing they all cannot do, is... scrub. That friction matters.
Dishwasher will look 'clean' on the walls, but check the drain. The sludge is still there as it simply cannot agitate it off, so you may think your dishwasher is clean, but the innards are not. That sludge gets steamed and creeps back up, often being the film that ends up on the walls (and dishes!) you think you're solving with these pucks.
Same goes for similar washing machine pucks/pods/etc. The rubber seal that tends to get moldy, won't ever be clean (even if running cycles with straight bleach) without.... agitating/scrubbing. Bleach alone can't cut through it all, nor can the pucks.
In other words, these aren't bad, but they are NOT 100% your solution. Elbow grease is.
The washing machine cleaner tablets work well, I throw in a couple once a month, but I bought a pack of 48 for $10 from Amazon within the last year, so I don't think 24 tablets for $16 is a particularly good price.

These are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced on Amazon. You can buy this identical product on Temu for less than $3.50! These are about the size of a dishwasher pod and are primarily citric acid. They are cheaper than the overpriced national brand washing machine cleaners, but Amazon sellers are just marking these up because Amazon customers do not realize how cheap these are to produce. We're talking pennies here. As others have said, you can buy a pound of citric acid and be set for a few years. But if you want convenience, go buy the exact same thing from more than a dozen competing sellers on Temu for a fraction of these prices.

Washing machine tablets are mostly sodium percarbonate (oxiclean). But your best bet is scrubbing around the rubber gasket and leaving the door open after each load to dry out.

For the dishwasher, scrubbing the filter is still the answer. You can also flush out the drain-water which can be swampy. Pour some water into the machine, start a cycle, immediately cancel the cycle, and the water will pump out. Repeat. Include some RidX septic powder to eat through slime build-up.

Yes but you could also run an empty cycle with a 1/4 of bleach AND if you rather not use bleach you could use white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide....

The prices post COVID has increased like crazy. I remember buying these from Bed Bath and Beyond for about $10 without discount just before COVID.

I have the disposal cleaner. It's a let down compared to the stuff you buy in the bags. Would take at least two each time to see any sort of foaming action build up to the top of the drain which negates the 'savings' per tab of these.

Got a place you'd recommend buying the citric acid from?
Amazon. A bag goes a long way. I use it to descale things like my coffee machine and an ice maker. Works better than vinegar and doesn't leave an odor.

$16 for 24 is nuts. How is that a deal, let alone a front page one? I bought the disposal tabs for less a year ago and that was 'regular' price. This must be an SD shill product the amount I see it on here.

For using the citric acid in a washing machine, do you pour it straight into the drum before starting an empty load? Or do you pour it into the powdered detergent dispenser and let the machine dispense it when it's ready? From the little bit I've read, they say 0.5 - 1 cup is good for a washing machine? Do you also add some oxiclean?

Not the same brand but this one has good reviews and is $6 cheaper without a sale. I bought these but haven't tried it yet.

How did you observe them "working well." I've used them and have not noticed a difference.

I have an LG front loader washing machine. A year ago (when I purchased the machine), LG's U.S. site recommended to use washing machine cleaning tablets to clean the drum. However, on UK and African sites, it said to first pour 2 cups of white vinegar in the detergent dispenser and run tub clean cycle, then add 1/2 cup of baking soda directly in the drum and run tub clean cycle.

Seems to me that Americans are being shafted and that Americans like getting shafted. Regardless, I have been using the vinegar and baking soda cleaning method for the past year, and the machine smells just like new.

LG's site said that vinegar used in this manner would not harm the rubber door seal, but it would if used more frequently. So don't overdo the vinegar if you go this route.
