Filtered water still has minerals and maybe trace contamination in it, which may deposits in an iron, steamer, cpap or other devices over time. I believe distilled water is usually evaporated and then recaptured as condensation. When the water evaporates into vapor, it leaves all of the minerals and anything else behind so it's very pure. Distilled is also recommended for mixing baby formula for this reason.
Same here. I would never use this thing. I think it would get scummy if not in the fridge, and it's too big for the fridge...
