I like any Folgers better than any Maxwell House, but I prefer any Starbucks to these two. I'm pretty cheap with coffee so that's about all I can offer.

I guess coffee has gone up (like everything else), $3.50 - $4.25 used to be a good price for Maxwell, now up to $6 with 15% S&S.

I was just looking at some past orders:
August 27, 2021, Maxwell House Wake Up Roast Medium Roast Ground Coffee (30.65 oz Canister) - $2.99 after coupon and S&S.
March 17, 2022, Maxwell House Intense Bold Dark Roast Ground Coffee (26.7 oz Canister) - $5.65 after 10% S&S

How do these classic coffee brands fare in today's bougie coffee? I remember buying Folgers but never Maxwell House.

Most all of them have the cheap coffee bean taste. Or you can taste the added chickory, or whatever it's called. The only ones I have found that don't are Maxell House Dark Silk, Choc full of nuts donut shop, and Great Value original roast. The walmart stuff is actually pretty good.
note: I am one scoop per cup. Every coffee maker makes different tasting coffee. Local water is different from town to town.
For instance my $150 Bonavita brewing folgers tastes awful. But I can go a thousand miles away to Pennsylvania and a $40 Black and Decker and some Folgers will be some drn good tasting coffee. For some reason Dominos pizza up there is also the best pizza on the planet.

Sounds like weed may be involved.

Years ago I tried a few of the leading ones, Folgers, Maxwell House, Chock Full of Nuts. Most were lacking much coffee flavor. The closest I found was Maxwell's Dark Bold, which is a step darker than the OP offering.

This shouldn't be bad for the price, but it won't compare to Starbucks, Lavazza, etc. At this price, with coffee prices already rising because of the "economics expert" in the Oval Office, it might be worth a shot. If you hate it, call Amazon, ,tell them it didn't meet expectations, and they will refund your money and tell you to keep the coffee. Make sure to put the grounds in an airtight container or they go stale halfway through the can.

I love strong, but not bitter, coffee but often shop sales. Starbucks is my favorite, Folgers, Maxwell House, and ummmm store brand (ugh).

Had to laugh at the 26.7 ounces!! That shrunk over 5 ounces, and a lot more expensive!

Given that Walmart sources from within the USA, Canada, Thailand, and others I'm sure. I'd assume each Walmart could have a great value product that compares wildly different to another locations offering. I would agree that the Great Value Classic Medium (40.3 oz) is insanely good for the price. I also am unwilling to pay for most fast food or coffee shops whatever their quality (unless in a social situation).
