Crucial P3 is a good bet for a suitable PCIe Gen 3 drive. The P3 Plus would work as well, but no point in paying extra for a Gen 4 if it's only going to run at Gen 3 speeds.

Picked up the 512gb version for my dad to get him into something that's not 10 years old and abysmally slow. Is the Windows install safe to run on these out of the box or do you need to wipe/reinstall? If you reinstall, are the keys properly recognized on boot via digital cert already stored at MS?
