The upgrades only last until your membership expires though. Maybe the math works out if you are already wanting to pay for online and can split it with 4-5 people

I just got a Switch 2. I've been having a lot of fun with Mario Kart World but it's a good time to stock up on Switch 1 games I've been missing out on. Love backwards compatibility.

Depends on their interests. If they like Minecraft, then pick up Mario Maker 2. If they like beat em ups, then Smash brothers. Can't go wrong with Mario Party Superstars, or any of the Mario platformers (Wonder, 3D world, New Super Mario Bros). Kirby and Forgotten Land and Yoshi's crafted world are for more low stakes, cozy platforming

AFAIK, Galaxy was only released on Switch as part of the 3D All Stars collection, which Nintendo discontinued years ago

Have you noticed that not all games are? You can't buy any of the ones that have compatibility issues through the store. Here's to hoping the vast majority eventually become fully compatible.
