It's hard to say that the new one is worth almost double this price. But I actually think it is with the new one's better low-light mode, replaceable lenses, and more capable processing power that allows you things like setting a vantage point while still recording 360 video.

Or at least, for my uses in casual documentation of family vacations and bike rides what not – anything that lessens the hassle of needing to edit and reframe the videos and then export them… well that's worth a couple hundred dollars of my time.

But to that end, I'm not really going to find these cameras truly easy to use until the ai onboard or in the computer/phone is good enough to automatically output decent flat videos.

GoPro is trash compared to DJI and 360 nowadays
I run an action sports business that relies heavily on providing action camera footage for my clients. That being said, I wouldn't touch GoPro with a ten foot pole.

This will be my first Insta360 for snowboarding videos, do you recommend the x4 or x5? Is the x5 worth the extra $250?
Get the X4 since mostly your snowboarding video is during daytime. I love my X4

I may return my costco purchase and try this out. I'm conflicted and have been watching X4 vs X5 videos this morning.
I also considered the Costco bundle. It has a bunch of things I don't need / want. I bought a ton of accessories. Almost none of the tings that are in the Costco bundle.

Costco does have a nice 90-day return policy though.

I keep seeing these Amex Dell cash backs for years. Is it a particular Amex card or all of them? Thanks.
It's a targeted offer. I kept looking for it in my Amex offers for months, it finally showed up recently.

nice my costco had a bunch in stock, grabbed one, thanks OP.
Tempting to consider the X5 with the bigger sensor, but $549 for camera only vs $299 for the bundle, this is an attractive deal

For snowboarding and actual action use? I think this is the X4 is the way to go, at this price.

I have the X4 and I would've waited and gotten the X5 if I could. Main issue is the lens guard all seems to impart a slight glare in direct sunlight. The preimum glass which is more scratch resistant has a worse glare than the provided plastic ones. However, the plastic ones scratches easily. I'm careful with mine and even I somehow got a slight scratch on it which makes it even more obvious in direct sunlight. The only way to avoid that is to go without the lens guard but I'm scared to death to scratch it. The X5 actually allows you to replace the lens which in my opinion is equivalent to having a lens guard but without the actual guard.

Do these handle 75° F direct sun exposure for video recording longer than 15 minutes? My GoPro hero 13 black overheats very quickly and shuts down.

I think that's just a GoPro issue. I have the Insta360 Twin RS, X5 and DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro and they don't overheat at all.

For reference, at work we use GoPro Hero 11s and 12s to film things and those things overheat after 20 or less minutes of recording. IDK how people actually choose these over better action cameras.

Where are you finding the x5 for $355? Costco has it for $549 with extra battery and 256 gig memory card. I haven't seen nor heard it anywhere near $355.
He said dell and stated the original price and subtracted every discount to $355?.......
