Southwest Airlines Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and Expedia have round trip airfares travelling to and from San Jose CA (SJC) and Kauai Lihue Hawaii (LIH) for $247, making 1 stop. These are basic economy fares and include a personal item and a carry-on bag. There is no seat selection and no change. If you are travelling with children on American, you will be seated together as per AA's policy. Delta decides that on a case-by-case basis. Southwest, well, you know....first come first serve.

Alaska Airlines have round trip, nonstop airfares between these two destinations for $233 when you book directly [alaskaair.com] using the promotional code TROPICS20.

Travel Availability:

This isn't a good price. Under $200 would be a SD. But when all the airlines have the same price, there's no deal, it's just competition- or collusion. They can spice it up with promo codes or combining two one way fares, but if the end game is the same, they're not really presenting anything of note.

They come from time to time. Wait another few weeks and the post school-start fares should start appearing. I can also find eggs on sale right now for $4/dozen rather than $7.99.

Just because it's cheaper than what has been recently doesn't make it a slickdeal, it makes it a mehdeal. But if you think it's something fantastic, I won't stand in your way of booking your flight. Rock on.
