The only real change this year is the subwoofer.
My position is the same as theirs if you read the verdict. They essentially say get whatever one is cheaper. Also this is a product that really doesn't need a yearly revision. They could put out a new one every 2-3 years and that would be fine.
Eventually I bit the bullet and picked up a HWQ950, then a Q990B, then the Q990C, now a Q990D and I just bought the Q990F via the woot sale above.
The HWQ950 had great sound but really shoddy wireless connection with many dropouts (the vizio at the time was also prone to dropping out and the sound was far inferior. Had a manual tuning process.
The Q990B sounded as great, but was prone to dropouts. More stable than the Q950 but I noticed a spotty connection. The wifi would often disconnect as well. Also had to be put into tuning manually.
I've had zero issues with the Q990C and Q990D.
I have has a 65in S95C and now a 65in S90D; it's not a killer feature but I appreciate Q-Symphony and definitely notice when it's not running. Pror to these TVs I was running an Optoma GT1090 projector
I will not fight anyone who believes that these soundbars are expensive; they are. You can absolutely do "better" with a dedicated receiver and multiple satellite speakers. The value for me, here, is getting what I feel is great sound with minimal footprint and relatively no setup.
Happy to answer any questions I can.

You are the 1st person I have ever seen to buy a new sound bar every year for 5 years straight basically. Also the B, C, D, and now F are almost the same sound wise. No judgement, just curious what's up with that...

Just got a Q990C myself a couple months ago for under $400 on clearance and I'm astounded by it vs my old Bose bar. Worth every penny and more. And here I am looking at newer revisions and fantasizing, but there's nothing in D or F that makes me want to actually spend more money to "upgrade" to the exact thing I have.

Here is an example.
No running wires, easy to setup, convenient, small footprint, looks good, WAY better than tv speakers & sounds pretty good for the price.

Not to mention soundbars are designed/often used with streaming/digital content.
That's a significant drop in quality also!
Then you have people paying another $800-$1000 to upgrade from B to C to D to F etc each time!
I disagree the vast majority of home users don't bother with any of this, tv speakers are just fine.

lol that's kinda funny you say that in a soundbar post!
The majority of people setups now aren't even taking full advantage of the current "Dolby/dtsx" formats offer, especially with a soundbar!
If anyone is being forced, it's self imposed imo!

Also the people who upgrade between letter generations on this product are stupid and wasting their money. That has nothing to do with the overral quality of the product.

Lol where did I say better! 🤔
It fulfills the usual reasons people choose a soundbar.
If you believe this is $800 better, that's a personal choice.
For me I would not pay $1k for faux Atmos surround!

That is directly from what you said and it's categorically a false statement. For the price of this Samsung package it's hard to beat and it is better then that dinky ass thing you linked too haha that doesn't even have a dedicated sub.

I also logged in to see if this was the same version that I'd been considering with the EPP discount and noticed the same thing.
