The only real change this year is the subwoofer.
My position is the same as theirs if you read the verdict. They essentially say get whatever one is cheaper. Also this is a product that really doesn't need a yearly revision. They could put out a new one every 2-3 years and that would be fine.
Eventually I bit the bullet and picked up a HWQ950, then a Q990B, then the Q990C, now a Q990D and I just bought the Q990F via the woot sale above.
The HWQ950 had great sound but really shoddy wireless connection with many dropouts (the vizio at the time was also prone to dropping out and the sound was far inferior. Had a manual tuning process.
The Q990B sounded as great, but was prone to dropouts. More stable than the Q950 but I noticed a spotty connection. The wifi would often disconnect as well. Also had to be put into tuning manually.
I've had zero issues with the Q990C and Q990D.
I have has a 65in S95C and now a 65in S90D; it's not a killer feature but I appreciate Q-Symphony and definitely notice when it's not running. Pror to these TVs I was running an Optoma GT1090 projector
I will not fight anyone who believes that these soundbars are expensive; they are. You can absolutely do "better" with a dedicated receiver and multiple satellite speakers. The value for me, here, is getting what I feel is great sound with minimal footprint and relatively no setup.
Happy to answer any questions I can.

Just like you think those "dinky ass" satellites are real speakers and especially that "dinky ass" 8" sub being a real sub!
As long as you believe it, that's all that matters! 👍🏻
Honestly you come off sounding ridiculous and I can tell you have never heard this Samsung sound bar in a home theater setup. It simply blows nearly every other soundbar out of the water. Nothing else even comes close unless it costs basically double. I had some similar thoughts about soundbars like you before I got one of these and was blown away.
It sounds great, that is what is important.

Yes, it's cheaper now a year later. I would repurchase it in a heartbeat; certainly not at $2k, but on sale it's well worth the money.
One thing to look for is the manufacturer's date on it. Original ones had pairing issues but those were entirely sorted out. Love the system and have no had a single problem since purchasing it. My brother also got one with zero issues (purchased at the same time and with a similar manufacturing date).
That said... I have not done any research on the F, but wanted to give my experience for the D.

Ignore him, any time anything audio comes up he acts like an obnoxious snob. He hasn't heard this model or even grasps the target audience for this.

I've listened to all 3 models mentioned(& more), how about you?
"sounds great" is completely subjective, exponentially more when calculating in the cost.
People even in here said at $2k not great but "for this price" its great!
Having personally listened, that $199 Bose wasn't too shabby "for the price".
Was the D version of this better, yes. Was it $800 better ahhh no, no way I'm paying this price for that difference.
Remind me why this is "ridiculous" again!?
I actually set the D up in our dedicated room(5.2.4) because of a relative who often made the same arguments found in here that this is a "real" 11.1.4 Atmos "home theater setup" & that it "sounds so great" that it rivals a traditional "home theater setup"!
He pick 3 movies I added just 1. I will just surmise by quoting his son "wow dad, that's no contest"!
