Looks like a slight downgrade from D?

In real world usage they are going to be about the same. When the differences are so small you need to zoom in on an oscilloscope graph you aren't going to be able to notice it with your ears.

The only real change this year is the subwoofer.

My position is the same as theirs if you read the verdict. They essentially say get whatever one is cheaper. Also this is a product that really doesn't need a yearly revision. They could put out a new one every 2-3 years and that would be fine.
I used to try so many cheaper soundbar setups, mostly Vizio.

Eventually I bit the bullet and picked up a HWQ950, then a Q990B, then the Q990C, now a Q990D and I just bought the Q990F via the woot sale above.

The HWQ950 had great sound but really shoddy wireless connection with many dropouts (the vizio at the time was also prone to dropping out and the sound was far inferior. Had a manual tuning process.

The Q990B sounded as great, but was prone to dropouts. More stable than the Q950 but I noticed a spotty connection. The wifi would often disconnect as well. Also had to be put into tuning manually.

I've had zero issues with the Q990C and Q990D.

I have has a 65in S95C and now a 65in S90D; it's not a killer feature but I appreciate Q-Symphony and definitely notice when it's not running. Pror to these TVs I was running an Optoma GT1090 projector

I will not fight anyone who believes that these soundbars are expensive; they are. You can absolutely do "better" with a dedicated receiver and multiple satellite speakers. The value for me, here, is getting what I feel is great sound with minimal footprint and relatively no setup.

Happy to answer any questions I can.

Wow $1000 for sound system, $2000 for TV or a couple hundred going to movies all year!

Just in for the comments Wink

That's like 2 movies per year for a couple with 2 kids. $20 per ticket for a Saturday 7pm show + a couple snacks is over $100 each time.

Not exactly sure what that has to do with buying a TV and soundbar though...

"These tickets do not include new releases"

Yeah cuz I never want to see a new release. Again, what does a TV and sound bar have to do with seeing movies in the theater? You have yet to explain the correlation...

Also $15x4x12=$720

Plus it tells me Alist is $20 per month for me. That's $960. You don't know it too well I guess. Peace

Can anyone here comment if the sound gets much louder during the commercials? I have the Q990C and find that so annoying considering I didn't have to deal with this with my previous Visio soundbar

Hate to break it to you, but that is an app/channel thing, not controlled by your soundbar at all, unless your old soundbar had some niche setting but that is not common and unlikely for a visio. Many modern TV's do have a sound setting to normalize all volumes though. Check that.

Is this the latest version of this model? Hopefully they ironed out and fixed all the issues from previous versions.

It looks like they changed the subwoofer on this latest version. I wonder which is better?
the old woofer does everything I need of it, that larger one is an eyesore. cant say I ever wish I had more bass. even with music, it sounds great enough for me. old one.

It's 799 now, was 700 9 hours ago, per another deal post
I would 100% get the D over the F at $700. But heck unless you need HDMI 2.1 I'd get the C even cheaper. Paid $600 for my C a few years ago. No regrets. $1k for the F is not worth it at all.

Anyone worried about the speakers on the sub getting damaged much easier since they're exposed?
