What a coincidence. We actually broke the lid of our glass butter dish this week when we opened the door too quickly while the shelf protective lid was left open. This one is made of plastic and should help avoid this issue in the future. Thanks OP.

I'm not here to tell folks how to live their lives, but I personally wouldn't buy a plastic dish that a knife will be scraping against a lot unless I'm really craving microplastics.

Buy a nice stainless steel butter slicer to go with it (as low as under $5). I love to have sliced butter ready to use. Grab a quick slice of butter to make eggs. Grab a quick slice to go on top of the pancakes. Grab a quick slice to fry a pork chop. Grab a quick slice to make grilled cheese. etc.

Butter ages due to both light (Photo-oxidation) and air. This is a terrible butter container, unless you eat it quickly.

It's a clear container and butter is to be kept dark so if you keep it on the counter I could see how this design would be an issue but we keep ours in the fridge where its dark 99.9% of the time.

The edges sit above the bottom of the butter and are near the butter. So making a nice slice through the butter is more difficult and you'll likely be slicing into the plastic.
