People with weaker hand strength, older people, arthritis, if you have to do a large amount of pruning any of those and this thing is a lifesaver. It rips through large branches easily. Also helpful if you are in the Dewalt battery ecosystem already.

I've had this tool for 2 seasons now. I'm rather proud that I haven't lost a finger yet. These are incredibly powerful, and make easy work of some major pruning and yard-clearing jobs. Once you see how easily they'll slice through large branches, you'll understand how they can slice through a finger no problem.

I don't use mine for what I would use for "snips" I would one-handed pruning shears. My wife and I use ours for when we would normally use long-handled "loppers." They are really strong and can cut pretty thick stuff.

I haven't used the cheap electric pruners, so I can't directly compare….but these will slice through about anything that will fit between its jaws. It's truly amazing.

Anything these can't cut…it makes sense that you'd use a saw or chainsaw.
Lol I had batter pruners, hacksaw, and chainsaw. I ended up going F this sht, and used the chainsaw for everything including the little twigs ha.

So if you have a chainsaw and don't mind the noise.. I'd just use that lol

I've used these for the last year, excellent tool. High level of respect when using this tool. No booze, no weed. You must be on your game, when using this tool.

Agreed. I use these in combination with my chain saw. Very useful when clearing out brush & downed trees and/or prepping to split logs for firewood. Not to mention that they're seriously fun to use!

Scariest tool I own and I own them all. Every time I use them I have an imagine of a moment of distraction and a severed finger. Having said that, I love it and it's a game changer. It makes pruning fun.
Not only does it help with grip fatigue and make the process quicker but it helps keep your hands farther from prickers and thorns.

I'm have a lot of ryobi and Ridgid tools and batteries and nothing DeWalt, so i'm hesitant but this is tempting. any great deals on a DeWalt battery or two? seems like buying the batteries will make this not much of a deal

Some of the comments are beyond lame and stupid.

I dropped my new pair in the creek. Frown Gotta get another one.

If you have serious trimming to do, these are amazing. Remember, you don't just cut the branches off. You have to cut them in pieces to either mulch or fit in the garbage/green.

These are super handy if you have a large yard and mature trees / landscaping. Makes quick work of trimming branches to size for disposal or firepit. I also have a small grove of river cane i always have to fight, and makes it so much easier to thin out the dead cane.

I bought one of these from Woot last go around, a few weeks ago. I agree with the others saying they are super powerful, and demand full respect. Married it to the $30 battery deal from the end of April.

Because it's so fast and easy to use, I cut up all branches into small pieces, which pack the "green" recycling can much tighter.

Just wondering what is the true use case that makes sense for these?

Pruning shears of many flavors and strengths are so cheap. They are super easy to use. Unsure how power assisted shears are really needed.
I use this to cut the heavier branches my hedge trimmer can't handle. Cuts them in half a second with one hand. I could use non-power trimmers or ratcheting things that add to the time it takes to get done. I have lots of trees and bushes that need frequent pruning.

For those using chainsaws instead I have done that and have found that avoiding the hassle when the chain pops off makes using this tool very worth it. Also no oil or other maintenance/consumable issues to worry about and can operate with one hand, freeing the other to hold back other branches I may not want to cut at safe distance.

The same product is on Amazon for only $9 more, with significantly faster shipping times and hassle-free return options. I would gladly pay the extra $9 for the convenience of knowing that I can return an item easily if something goes wrong.

For people asking why use? I have the craftsman version and use it a lot. Being able to hold limbs with one hand and cut it to size for "green pickup (trash day)" with the tool is so easy. When replacing baseboards, I used it to cut them to trashcan size.

Have this, bought for a similar price a few years back, absolutely love it. I can chop up longer branches before putting them in green waste (so they don't stick out), and it makes pruning for someone like me who doesn't know much about gardening much less intimidating. Even my wife who is a green thumb and has lots of other pruners now uses this as her go to for tougher jobs.
