People with weaker hand strength, older people, arthritis, if you have to do a large amount of pruning any of those and this thing is a lifesaver. It rips through large branches easily. Also helpful if you are in the Dewalt battery ecosystem already.

I've had this tool for 2 seasons now. I'm rather proud that I haven't lost a finger yet. These are incredibly powerful, and make easy work of some major pruning and yard-clearing jobs. Once you see how easily they'll slice through large branches, you'll understand how they can slice through a finger no problem.

This was listed last night, but that post appears to be gone now.

I received mine and already used them a ton. Very easy to use and powerful. However you could easily take a finger off if you are not paying attention. Just don't prune anywhere near your other hand and you should be good lol

Some of the comments are beyond lame and stupid.

I dropped my new pair in the creek. Frown Gotta get another one.

If you have serious trimming to do, these are amazing. Remember, you don't just cut the branches off. You have to cut them in pieces to either mulch or fit in the garbage/green.
There's a lot of manly men who think their self worth is dependent on the kinds of physical work they do

I have these and they're a great tool to have around

I had a RIDGID pruner and it has life time warranty. Does anyone know if this one is better than the RIDGID one?

Wow, a tool I didn't know existed until now. So tempted to buy something I didn't know I (maybe) needed.

Fam always says they don't know what to get me, gift wise…this is perfect.

I bought this late last year. Even using it once every couple weeks (which is the case for me) it is absolutely worth its weight in gold.
We have wisteria, hibiscus, honeysuckle and bougainvillea and I have pruned them for two decades with conventional shears and loppers. Never again. The power and cutting ability the DeWalt has honestly has to be seen to be believed.
Something I thought was rather funny that came up in the thread when I bought mine was people saying over and over to watch your fingers. They're not kidding. This will absolutely take a digit off before you can release the trigger if you're not careful. If you like to have a couple beers while doing yard work, keep this locked up or don't buy it. The mechanism is extremely powerful and unforgiving. While I haven't had any close calls myself, I do sometimes shudder when I realize how cavalier I get after using it for a half hour or so. If you're an intelligent, reasonably cautious person, you'll love these. If you're clumsy or absent-minded, stick to manual shears.
As for the more technical side of things, I've had these about six or seven months now and they see use every week to two weeks. The blades are just as sharp as when new (or at least, I haven't noticed any dulling, given the power), and a 4ah battery lasts easily three or four sessions lasting 30 minutes before it needs recharging.
Anyway, if you're on the fence, buy it and enjoy the sense of smug satisfaction when you realize just how much time and effort it saves you the first time you use it.
Oh, and your neighbors will wonder what that weird "walking robot" sound is!

Where can you get good replacement blades for this. Works great for trimming branches especially when you have a big yard with lots of mature trees.

I live on an acre with a creek, and I have tons of plants. Things really slow down with the two handed loppers. I want this but I'm not in the dewalt system.
The M12 Milwaukee ones are comparable and what I ended up with. I liked the way the trigger/cut motion is better, you can store them closed, and they have two jaw opening settings.

I bought for $89 a few months ago at HD and it was a lifesaver cutting everything growing through the chain link fence. I have more cuts to do now that everything greened up, but the hedge trimmer kinda bounced off the brush and vines tangled in it. I don't trust myself to run a chainsaw right next to the fence and not screw something up. Bunch of quick individual cuts and I have part of my yard back. One 5ah battery lasted hours of work.

I love these things!!! Regular long handle loppers require you to open them up very far for the blades to open far enough to accept larger branches. These open wide enough every time .....if that makes sense
