This is not an ideal Cat fountain. Most cats are naturally drawn to the sound of running water. Having a fountain that constantly runs and makes some noise is a benefit.

Also, keeping the water moving helps it stay clean.

I just saw a different version of this at Sams Club today for $79.99. Was considering picking it up to replace my cat's constant flowing fountain. But you are right how cats are drawn to the flowing and sound water. But they do adapt to things like the Litter Robot in no time so I wouldn't know for sure without sampling one for a decent amount of time.

If anyone has one, how difficult was it for your cat to adjust to using the motion sensor?

This one can run constant. Just plug in instead of running on battery.

The intermittent setting is best. That way it's moving water still, but not CONSTANTLY going off when anything moves near it.

Dang just bought the wireless water fountain from Petlibro off Woot! for $44. Wonder how it stacks up against this one?

Yes, that's the double-edged sword of keeping the water running and aerated all the time - one of our two cats does the same, likes to splash one paw over and over again, getting water all over the floor. I think she sees a bit of debris or a bubble moving around on the top, and likes to try to "catch" it.

Ordered one of these to try it in intermittent mode, if the cats don't like that, I can always switch it to continuous flowing mode. The little pump in our current cat fountain is starting to give out, the flow is barely a trickle now, so I need to new one soon anyways.

I never see the benefit of this compared to just giving my cat fresh daily water in their bowl. These you have to deal with filters which shouldn't matter if you replace the water daily. Maybe I am wrong and someone can tell me why this is better.

Some pets like drinking from faucets lol. Some of these kind of water fountains simulate that. Plus, it filters out contaminants like drool or whatever else may fall out of their mouth

We had a cat that had some medical problems potentially related to water consumption. We got a different version of this fountain does make some splashing sound and the cats are drinking a lot more water from it.
