Does anyone have any thoughts on why Sofirn lights have come down so significantly in price and that after the tariffs and talk of tariffs?

I have all kind of questions. Suddenly we can get lights for 50% of the going rate some short weeks back. Is that going to stay? Are they trying to get rid oi of excess stock and prices will rise again? Am I missing something and there is some other cause?

Whatever the cause right now you can get some very nice lights at ridiculously low prices and I have bad habit of not being able to resist.

Some insane users here feel that is problem especially if SD may make some small fractional percentage on the sale but I like it very much. All my Sofirn lights have been nice and dependable gear for me.

I don't think anyone knows except for the Sofirn seller. I have two of Sofirn flashlights and both are pretty good. My guess to your question: Chinese manufacturing always try to increase efficiency and reduce cost to compete. Another thought is the they try to sell as many as they can now to lock in whatever profit now before the tarrif really hit their business.

it's a complex question, but in my personal view it all depends what you are looking for and comfortable with. if you want the lowest price with longer shipping and perhaps some risk with sellers (if you never bought from aliexpress, for example), then this is it. if you want to buy directly from the manufacturer, to be 100% sure it's authentic product, but then you you're paying more. or you want buy it from other store fronts of your choice, but then again, you're paying more, because each storefront has different prices based on their stock, sell through #'s, and how much profit they want to make.

Amazon uses the same supply chains that Aliexpress does. AliExpress or Amazon might very well be handling the package. You are imagining a world that does not exist anymore. Much of this stuff is being shipped directly from factories and never goes to any store or storefront. They may be sitting on containers at a port or at some package handling business near ports. Orders are going out of multiple central locations. Amazon may or may not ever have the product in one of their warehouses and offers no more security. People get fakes on Amazon. In this case buying form the Sofirn store with AliExpress being the payment processor seems to me to be the most direct way of making sure you do not get some fake slipped into a supply chain.

BTW AliExpress is not much off Amazons shipping times. I ordered a light on 5/27 and had it on 6/2.. I'm not willing to pay twice the price to have Amazon get it to me in a day through the same supply chains. There is danger of loss if you pay to much for only imagined security and safety

I just do not get all the fear. I was an early adopter to online retail and in near 40 years have never experienced any real shady business and it must be out of tens of thousands of items. I have and do buy many things from multiple online retailers be they in America or somewhere else. Even in the very off chance something weird happens we all have total security by just doing a CC dispute. None of what you worry about is ever on my mind as a worry at all. In fact it seems a golden age of ease and safety for the consumer like I have never witnessed before. Instead of worried and fretful we should be happy and joyful.

People seem to remember some age of security with American made products that I just do not remember. You act like some storefront to of old was safe place to shop and I know that not the case. When I was about ten I begged my mom for pair of tennis shoes I saw at GC Murphys. We were poor and she saved up some months and got them. The soles fell off the next day. We went to the store and the manager refused a return and said I must have did something to them. My mother became heated and refused to leave without her money back and he called the cops and had us thrown out.

I had similar experiences with other hometown stores. When older I started contracting and made good money but could not afford any really decent tools at as they were just to expensive. No Dewalt or Milwaukee were within reach and in fact the ones available paled in comparison to the stuff available now at ridiculously low prices. I had to use Skill stuff that was made in America but were kind of junk and yet still were costly in comparison to what is available now. There was no taking them back to the store or replacement as many retailers had a strict no returns no money back policy.

I have frequently been almost ripped off or on occasion ripped off by various contractors, mechanics and similar services local to me and that live somewhere near me That has happened hundreds if not thousands of times over the same forty years where I never really had a problem retail experience. If I am going to worry or fret retail stuff that is the much safer market

I think my point being I just do not understand why everybody is worried, scared and fretful and almost cursing and ready to kill the goose. It is not catastrophe if a retail order goes bad, it can be straightened out in seconds and consumers are protected like never before in history.

my main point being that in this instance aliexpress is making less of a profit vs other retailers selling the same thing

the rest, i agree, and what you're describing is global competition that forced others to do 3 things: 1. cut prices. 2. improve products. 3. care about customer, for if they don't, someone else will and they will lose a sale.

the rest of the topics, i.e made in the usa vs elsewhere, can really get heated and political, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it's also important to know that opinion is not a fact

Whenever I order from aliexpress, it usually takes roughly a week to receive. I am more than willing to buy from there given the significant savings over amazon or other retailers

The fastest one I got took 5 days. I saw the tracker, and it did go through customs. This was back in January.
