Good if you want a very cheap bare bones system. The
7700X deal posted last week is a better value if you can swing the extra $80 for double the RAM and a better processor if you can accept an ATX board.

Jump? Depends on what you're doing, of course. The chip I have is a 6 core 7600x. The 9600x is a iterative improvement over the 7600x. We're talking in the neighborhood of 10%. The 7600x is roughly as good as the 5700x/5800x line which had 8 cores. Similar in multitasking and similar in gaming. The 5600G (6 cores) has a better (though older*) graphics core than the 9600x, but it trades away max CPU speed and some other features compared to the 5700x/5800x to fit that improved graphics core. So the 5600g is noticeably worse when paired with a GPU for gaming than the 7600x and significantly worse in multithreading. (when gaming, I am assuming you're pairing it with a graphics card able to keep up with the new CPU. An NVIDIA 1060 isn't doing that)
So, the 9600x is certainly better/faster, but it's a whole new system and that single RAM stick really wants a twin. If you are mostly gaming and your motherboard supports it, consider a 5x00 3dx chip. It would be a significant improvement for gaming if you're ever CPU bound. If you really want better multitasking and general computing power, if your MB supports it, consider a AMD Ryzen 9 5800XT/5900XT? Just note that if you don't have a stand alone GPU, you need one with that chip. If you want just a new system that will be better/snappier in all spects, the 9600x deal here is a good value.
* while the 5600G has a better iGPU for things like light gaming.it is older and doesn't support the newest video codecs for media playback. This is mostly a concern for nerds and if you plan on keeping the 5600G for another 5 years or so as streaming platforms move towards AV1 and away from less efficient codecs like H.264.
