Yup. Older negative displays like these are hard to read in many situations. Go for the new mips displays if you're looking for a mostly blacked display. Unlikely to find deals though for anything with mips at this time

This one actually is not as bad as other negative display gshocks I've seen (or tried to "see" 🤪). The light needs to hit it just right unfortunately or I just use the backlight which shows up nicely on this one

Yeah, YMMV for in-store pickup. At the time of this comment, there's pickup availability in an Oregon store a little outside of Portland. I'm not a fan of negative displays due to the readability issues in dim environments, but if you're a tinkerer, there's youtube directions on how to remove the polarizing film and swap for a 90deg one. (search casio convert negative to positive display). Cheers!

Careful. I bought this 2 weeks ago. It is smaller than what most of us expect the G-shock to be. Even though it is a Men's size, it looks more like a Women's or kids.
