I would want to upgrade ram anyway so this might be a pretty good deal for me to upgrade.

is the 16 gig of RAM sort of a slap to the face here?

No, 8 gigs of ram would be a slap in the face. 16 gigs is enough to get anyone going and gaming. Some games, mostly more modern ones or those problematic Sony Playstation ports might want you to dial back a setting or two, but no game won't run on 16gigs of system ram.

Plus, you can always just spend a little more and add 2 more sticks if you find you absolutely need it. Most folks won't, at least not yet.

No more than "three square meals a week" would be shake headLow end gaming build in 2025 is 32GB RAM (2 x 16GB). I'd suggest 64GB (2 x 32GB) as a reasonable build. (My builds even 5 years ago were all 64GB of RAM or higher.) Do not do 4x DIMMs when you can do 2x DIMMs instead (significant perf hit for gaming).
LoL I guess you never heard about dual channel or memory interleaving. While you are at it I think 1TB of memory is the minimum for gaming.

I am currently using a 5080 with a 5800X3D in a SFF case. Should I take this deal to move on to AM5? I don't really have any complaints about my current AM4 configuration. Been using AM4 since 2020. The RAM offered here isn't low-profile, correct?

4x single rank and 2x dual rank are essentially the same. 4x dual rank is where things get weird.

I wouldn't. Just wait for AM6. I don't think it makes sense for your current rig

Great deal IMO, esp. when considering the free ram. If you'd rather buy a 32+ GB kit instead of using the free 16gb kit, then just sell it to recoup money, or save it for another cheaper build. I don't understand why that's such an issue. With this being the 7800x3d cpu, along with the white b650e board, its already good value, and the other free parts just add extra value

Dang, wish I waited to get this deal. I was trying to purchase the microcenter deal but they're all sold out at the Santa Clara location.
