Glad it works for you. Some photographers need or want something better. Compared to your GlobeTrotter, this Gitzo is 300g lighter and 10" taller. The Gitzo is also much, much stiffer.
From the Center Column review of your tripod:
"These numbers are somewhat poor, but in line with what we expect from tripods at this price point. With this kind of stiffness, the user would struggle to get sharp images with the advertised DSLR and 70-200 f/4 lens. This is not enough stiffness to adequately damp the mirror slap or prevent wind from moving the camera around. The tripod will be much more at home supporting smaller, short telephoto to wide angle lenses."

Wonder how many people already switched to Falkam treeroot. Outside of the name, just a better value overall feels like.

I got one from Ulanzi and it was decent for the price, but it's nowhere near the quality of Gitzo. Sorry but I can't compromise when it comes to holding my expensive rig.
I got this Gitzo deal last year and it's a no brainer for the price. Both the tripod and monopod are extremely well made and the price is amazing.

Ripoff...paid $150 for my tripod 10yrs ago and still own it...unless making trip to Antarctica much better deals 😄
You don't need to make a trip to Antarctica to utilize this. If you need a well built sturdy tripod for night photography, astrophotography then a cheapo won't do it.

150 wasn't cheap....globetrotter aluminum still sturdy and doing fine

Of all the gear I had over the 47 years of shooting professionally my Gizo Traveler (guess the original of this one) is still with me and used.

Gitzo gives a life time warranty that is never needed because they are built so well. It is not quick to setup or offering any unnecessary utility other than holding my cameras secure no matter the environment. It is also a tripod that extends well above others and handles massive amounts of abuse in travel (been to places thanks to the airlines I wish had gone-went to Hawaii when I was on assignment in Columbus, Ohio).

Pay the extra if you are young it will literally last you a lifetime. If OLDER buy it as a legacy gift to your family because they are gorgeous-simple/elegant and dependable. Geez wish I could say that about myself!

Hmm, trade out my old Feisol Traveler for this? Bought Gitzo before on sale, but was too short at 48" and re-sold it. Mostly take kids pics (especially sports) now so could use the monopod.

Tempted to replace my Leofoto LX-324CT with this. I could sell the Leofoto and the Gitzo ball head and monopod from this deal and come out ~$200 ahead but I'd lose 6" of tripod height.

mmm, peak design just launched a campaign for a tripod pro. Almost double the price of this gitzo though. I already though the first peak design tripod was expensive but sheesh. Guess it's the california bay area pricing premium as well.

Looks like you might get 275 reselling the monopod.

If you can do that, tripod is sub-200 which is a killer deal
