Not bad if you need 16-core. Just FYI AMD really did muck around with the naming scheme:

5800X - 8-core, 3.8GHz/4.7GHz boost
5800XT - 8-core, 3.8GHz/4.8GHz boost
5900X - 12-core, 3.7GHz/4.8GHz boost
5950X - 16-core, 3.4GHz/4.9GHz boost
5900XT (this deal) - 16-core, 3.3GHz/4.8GHz boost
5800X3D hasn't been available in a year. I doubt it's coming back. 5700X3D is currently available only from Amazon pretty much, for more than this deal. I don't have a crystal ball, but I wouldn't expect it to go on sale.

Just as stweasel70 said above: If for gaming and willing to pay more, go for the 5700X3D. If for productivity or on a budget, go for the 5900XT.

Really depends if you just are gaming. Get the X3D for extra l3 cache. If you do some actual productivity stuff get this.

If you mainly do gaming, you need to find a good deal on 5700X3D since 5800X3D has been discontinued.

This should be called a 5945X because that's all it is.

I also have the same processor but won't that require a MOBO upgrade since 3700x is not AM4?

The Newegg deal comes with 32GB Corsair DDR4 RAM. Unless you have no use for the extra RAM, the newegg deal is a better value.

Yeah, I think the upgrade case here is someone looking for a big performance upgrade on AM4, but can't justify the spend for a new mobo and RAM to jump to AM5.

The 3700x is socket AM4.

You do need to confirm that your specific motherboard supports the processor you want to upgrade to, and probably need to update the BIOS before installing the new chip though.

I'm still using the X370 motherboard I bought back in early 2017, put in a 5700x about a year ago and it's still chugging along.

Nice, thanks! I have the x570 motherboard so hopefully if the x370 works then the x570 works too!
