This monitor is usually $700. I have it but the matte gives it that glittery look when just looking at text or web pages. Also, the Mac can't control the brightness and the controls are really subpar.

Open box is $799.99 right now without EDU/EPP on samsung.com. Anyone with EDU/EPP, can you please check if you can get additional discount to work on the open box?

When I sign into my EPP account, I don't see the open-box option anymore.

It's because of crappy matte displays like this that dough scammed me.

5k displays are not meant for just browsing the internet or reading text. This is a professional media/editing monitor.. the vast majority of which have matte displays.
The slight glittery look is not a big deal as someone who uses one daily (I have the Asus Proart 5k but same thing applies), and will be better for bright rooms than a glossy display.

I have this monitor bought last year for almost same deal, and connected to my Mac mini M4, works great also have the Samsung apps and crazy high brightness, only 5k 27" that isn't apple display that works perfect with retina (200ppi) Google it. This plus the mini are best bang for buck to get a Mac setup with 27" screen, I also have connected to my windows PC when I need to game or use windows apps.
My Mac M4 mini plus this monitor costed me $900 (Slickdealer since 2007 baby 🐥) bought a year ago

Don't buy this, see my comment history for a much longer explanation. Spent months dealing with warranty and 3-4+ different replacement units. Great looking screen, garbage electronics quality

Bought the Apple studio display for 1250 after considering this

Build quality is insane, would not buy a plasticky monitor again by choice.

Keep in mind, samsung decided to make it a tv as well. It has tv software that us super buggy and interferes with the monitor functionality

I am not sure plastic or aluminum matters as much for display monitors compared to phones which by nature requires physical touch and feel.
