At this price, disregard the negative reviews when it was comparing to Apple display! Excellent buy

I'm seeing $699.99 instead of $678.99.

LOL, apparently I overpaid at $799. I don't love it, but at this price it's hard to beat. My first copy was unacceptably noisy (coil whine); my replacement copy is acceptable, though still a slight whine.

Good luck. That Apple display won't go on the sales you're waiting for at least 3 more years.

Samsung smart monitors are a nightmare. Hard to switch inputs. doesn't detect new input, have to control with a remote. Makes it a TV which is ridiculous.

Hardly.. either you got a lemon or don't have patience to turn on/off features.

Almost pulled the trigger on this a while back. In spite of the middling reviews, it seemed like a very good price. But then someone made a comment that made me rethink it – if you have a 1080p TV and you upgrade to 4K, the picture will still look good because you are just scaling it to double in each direction, so there are exactly four pixels on a 4K TV for every pixel on the 1080p TV. However, in this case, you are are scaling to 5K, so there is no exact ratio (i.e. integer multiple) of pixels by which to scale the picture. Hence the picture is likely to not be as sharp as it could otherwise be. On top of this, most content these days is targeted to (and thus optimized for) the standard resolutions such as 720p, 1080p, 2160p, etc. So scaling this to 5K isn't going to be much of an improvement. Now, you can get around this problem by just turning off scaling and having black bars around the picture (in all four directions) so the picture stays at it's natively-recorded resolution, but that seems to defeat the purpose of having all the extra pixels. For general office productivity tasks, though, it should work just fine and, scaling it to roughly the same size as a 4K monitor, you will have more pixels for each character in a font (for example) so it should be sharper. But at 27", if you are a foot or so away from the screen, 4K displays are already at 'extinction resolution' where your eyes really can't tell the difference between the pixels, so it will be a marginal bump up in sharpness, if at all. Finally, if you can live with smaller text, you will definitely have more pixels to work with in this case and it should look obviously sharper than the same (small) sized text on a 4K screen.
This is a monitor, not a tv.
