I thought this was a pretty good deal. I picked one up and have had it for a couple days. Great sound, battery seems strong, phone charger works and the lights are pretty cool. For $49 bucks this is the perfect summer sounds boom box.

It says IP67 rating, so yes it would be waterproof (meaning tested to be submerged in a few feet for 30 min or so) it would also be dust proof from that rating.

I have had the altec lancing rockbox XL for 4 years now and it's still kicking, I take it on floating trips often, it has fallen out of our tubes countless times and it floats along fine, as far as waterproof speakers I only trust altec, I've had other brands and the sound quality will degrade if it gets submerged, I may be a bit picky but the sound quality of the brand is acceptable at their price point but not excellent IMO but for that price it's a good deal, they are designed to float so they don't go deep enough to cause damage

Not a problem. A lot of Altec Lansing speakers are Hydra: HydraBoom, HydraShock, HydraBlast, HydraMini, HydraMotion. Probably more I did not hear about
