Where does the water go?
Like others have said, it will evaporate on its own in REGULAR settings. If your home/area is excessively humid, you will have discharge or over flowing. I have a similar unit (single hose) and that is what my manual said.

Isn't that one way more expensive and not as generally well reviewed? Or maybe I don't recall the midea details last year as much
It was on sale the other day, it's bigger, and I had a coupon to make it under $400. I figured I'll try it for the price.

Did that get posted? Sounds like a great deal. Or, any more info?

After reading a few one and two stars reviews .
It's not really portable, weighs 80lbs so not easily movable, needs to be close to the windows, I guess the pipe length is very small too.
Keep that in mind.. Before purchasing
The portable is in the sense of easily moving on the floor between rooms when compare to a window unit. It has wheels for easy moving on the floor. It wasn't design for you to move up or down different floors in your house.

Sorry, we were just looking and happened across it since we decided to replace the Midea anyways. The coupon code was from my home depot credit card, so it's not common for the majority of people.

Inside the unit. To drain it you'll need to unscrew the drain cap and let it flow out. A better solution would be to get a condensation pump and let it flow to that and then out the window.
not if the unit works properly

One dumb question. I never used this before but thinking to add this to my room because only me working at home and I don't want to turn on the AC for the whole house.
Can I use this without connecting to the hose outside and use something to collect the water? Does it save more money?

Thank you
The hoses need to be hooked up and ran outside. The heat that it removes from the air needs to be exhausted outside.

How do these compare to the "window" units? I have central AC but the two bedrooms upstairs are always hotter than the downstairs. Was planning to buy a window AC units for the upstairs bedroom and was about to buy a similar in store Midea or Hisense unit from Costco but was also debating the "in window" units.

do these portables last? I bought 3-4 of them in the past, and they only last 1 year, then... freon leak or something, then just blowing air like a fan, expensive fan. Years back, these things cost 400-700 a piece!
Sounds like you answered your own question

Portable in that you don't have to manhandle the weight of window AC unit in and attempt to seal the air gaps. Also, you can most likely just open the window for fresh air. The business end in the window shouldn't poke a screen.

Does anyone have a reccomendation on a portable AC unit that doesn't get moldy and is easy to clean?

I saw a few of these on display at Lowe's (I want to say 5 and 6k btu) and they are significantly quieter than my kid's Fridgedaire window unit.

Window units are significantly more efficient than even dual hose portable units. I picked this up since my windows open horizontally but I'd absolutely have gone for a window unit otherwise.
