Anyone curious this means "Write once read many" and a common example would be a media drive where you write data one time (since it's relatively slow to write) and read data many times (since it's fast), for example by playing the media from the drive

I bought the 128GB version for $8.50 last week, H2testw came back at 40MB write and 140MB read for all of them, good enough for me.

I actually don't remember, but I would say within a month of actual usage. Data on it was easily replaceable, but it stopped me from using the other Amazon basic's flash drive that I have.

If you're looking to use this for anything critical, think again. Had this backing up to the cloud and when I went back to my computer the header was corrupted and the drive had to be formatted. Had a backup but I don't trust Amazon usb sticks anymore.

You can buy nvme drives on ebay that are 3200 mbps in real world settings and 10gbps in theory for $7 each. Just buy a 10 usd enclosure and you're all set. If you want ultra miniature stick to the 2230 form factor. Thumb drives are 100% obsolete and should be donated to Africa.

Same thing happened here. Failed after about a month of occasional use,; a few files here and there, drive failed with computer unable to read anything. For any important data, wouldn't use this unless you have multiple backups

I have about 10 PNY 128gb I have collected over the years. I did loose 1 completely. Afew lost data from non use over years (had to reformat). I do not like the slider cap on these.

Actually I have a bout 5 or 6 Microcenter 128gb (the ones you get free in a email coupon), and both the sticks and Micro SD cards have worked for me (knock on Wood)..

I am in for 1 just to see if these are any good. IDK, why I think I need another though.. I Should be waiting for prime day for a 512gb or 1 tb.....

They really obfuscated the USB standard with their naming. Who knows what they currently want to call it. USB 3.0 and 3.1 gen 1 can both mean the same thing. I would just focus on the transfer speeds. I think all USB 3.0 and above can do 5Gbps. This does not account for the actual speed of your hardware. It is just the theoretical limit of the port. 3.1 gen 2 should be able to do 10Gbps which is plenty for me. Then there are USB 4.0 and thunderbolt ports (USB C) which can have varying speeds. 40 Gbps might be the max on those right now? I did a little poking around when thinking of plugging my quest 3 into my computer.

I picked these up last year during Prime Day. As others have said, it's great for write once read many, but just to follow up, I thought I'd test it out to see how poor the write speeds were. Honestly, it doesn't seem too bad to me for just a cheap drive for something like Ventoy with a bunch of OS's and utilities. I may pick up a few more
