Anyone curious this means "Write once read many" and a common example would be a media drive where you write data one time (since it's relatively slow to write) and read data many times (since it's fast), for example by playing the media from the drive

I bought the 128GB version for $8.50 last week, H2testw came back at 40MB write and 140MB read for all of them, good enough for me.

I actually don't remember, but I would say within a month of actual usage. Data on it was easily replaceable, but it stopped me from using the other Amazon basic's flash drive that I have.

Amazon NAND is bottom of the barrel rejects quality just like TEAM , Onn, and off brands. Usually lasting 30-90 days, some 12-24 months.

Listing says they're pulled from new laptops so I wouldn't worry too much about it, difference between a Samsung and Kioxia or WD probably not significant if they're just a basic pcie 4 drive for use in an external.

Correct me if I am wrong, the the SSD uses more power and that is the problem. These are designed to operate on low power. I cant get my fire cube to read a 1tb ssd, or a 1tb spinner hdd. I can however use two 512gb (largest I own) on a usb hub with ethernet and it works. My hunch it is power that is the issue.

no don't use flash memory for constant writing if can avoid it. you need one that's high endurance for something that's always writing. it will work but not reliably

I use one also on my Omnia FireTV 55" (one of those cheap SDs of a few years ago) and at first it worked fine to extend the storage


but then it started incessantly getting unmounted for an undetermined reason. I unplug, replug, flip it, stick it, caress it, and even whisper sweet compliments at it... but nothing helps. Its just such a janky operating system and so poorly supported. The flash drive im using is even name brand (Sandisk or Samsung IIRC)
