When he contacted them they demanded banking info (losing anonymity) and said that losing backup code and the MFA thing were "software flaws" and I kid you not…that he "should be understanding that there is no way to predict what the software might do so it's not their fault…" it blew my mind when I saw the chat transcript. They took no responsibility
They were unapologetic, demanded he give them CC info & refused to accept even his original activation code which is unique, eventually they craved when he threatened to release the transcript and videos to social media and direct people to it by posting comments on all those social media accounts they pay folks to market for… they did a turn around in 2 mins and restored the account but was unable to give new backup codes as those were "lost forever "
TLDR: I DO NOT TRUST NORD VPN. I liked their service but wow that was some shady shit and I wouldn't believe it if he didn't send me the emails and screen recorded the chat own their site.
I have an openwrt VM installed on my hypervisor. It's set up to connect with the Nord credentials and one of the virtual NICs is linked to a VLAN so I can have a dedicated wifi SSID that I can use for VPN purposes. I can also link any of the other VMs to the same virtual NIC / VLAN so their traffic is routed via NordVPN. Lots of possibilities there and no matter how many devices or VMs are connected, it's only using ONE of the concurrent logins that Nord allows.
Doing it this way also makes a kill switch unnecessary and it's impossible to have traffic or DNS leakage as long as the openwrt VM was set up correctly. If the vpn link goes down connected devices simply lose their internet connection and you don't have to worry about the consequences of traffic going out via your normal connection. When I buy a new 2-year plan all I have to do is update the credentials on the one openwrt VM and everything else is seamless...
Sometimes as much as 105% back.
Technically, you're only supposed to do it once but I created a new cb and nord account and it worked a 2nd time. Also can alternate between cb sites.
For the conspiracy theorists, the 100%+ promos are usually for a limited time and it all comes out of their marketing budget. Instead of some YTer getting a cut of your sale, you get everything back for yourself and they hope you'll resubscribe after 2 years for full price.

While I agree that using MFA for this doesn't make a lot of sense, I would not say "Never" use MFA for anything...
