It says it can only hold a 32gb sd card and does loop recording in 3, 5, or 10 minute intervals? Not sure if I'd be able to get much use out of it that way.

If it is 1080 the 32 GB card will hold around 5 hrs of video recordings in 3, 5, or 10-minute segments. It will loop and record on top of the previous recordings after that. What makes this thing useless is the huge 4-inch screen. I prefer cameras with no screen or the smallest one possible.

Well it doubles as a backup camera presumably for an older car without one, in which case you need a decent screen

Valid point. If that thing is installed via a suction cup users are likely to have to reinstall it every day due to the weight and it falling down. I wonder if people need to interact with the screen each time they back up.
Someone scratched my car a couple of days ago in the Walmart parking lot (my car was parked, and I was shopping). So, I was planning to buy a dashcam that has parking monitor feature. I noticed that it has Motion Detection and Built-in 150mAh battery.
No, I have some noob questions:
Do I need to hard wire the dash cam to my car for using motion detection feature?
If I use the motion detection feature will it drain my car battery?
I already have a dash cam which only activates when I start my car, but my plan is to monitor the car when unattendant. will this dashcam serve the purpose?

Yes you need to hardwire it.
Yes, it can drain the battery. Some cameras have battery management feature where it will stop recording if it register a certain voltage to save the battery from completely depleting.
No, this is not what you want

Thank you so much. If time permits would you please give me some models that will serve my purpose without draining too much of my car battery

I wonder if the recording/display can be inverted. My Escape has the dvd slot at the top of the tree and a dvd slot mount with the ball could be used for this.

well well theway i see it, i can point one in my right blind spot and one the direction of my left blind spot, and one facing backwards. Then i get a large wide curved rear view mirror and have real time viewing in those places that Trouble likes to hide in. The mounting may be tricky but i have some ideas that im prototyping with my recycled fence lumber and duct tape.
You would have to do some research on your own. Sorry.
I don't know, seems a bit suspect to me. When i saw this reply i was hoping to learn about the models that aren't battery draining. In my world having a battery drained and car won't start because that vampire device's sucking the life out of it, is much worse than the embarrassment of having to walk around dragging jumper cables seeing who'd risk frying their car's computer brain by giving my car's battery a whiff of some smelling salts.... metaphorically of course. I suspect that if im thinking this, then someone else might be too, and then i run out of fingers, but that's 11 people who all have to do research an it'd be far more efficient, and incredibly generous if you gave us formatted table with the models and features and pros and cons., prices would be so awesome even. But i get the part about doing my own research. You are so right. But where would i start? If i was so fortunate if from you the manufacturer and the model please and I'd start my research in earnest, thank you.
