These things are amazing. I consider my pre-Zoj life to have been a hollow wandering in the wilderness.

French press? Done
Ramen? Done
Sick? Tea takes literally zero time. Go back to bed and sip your honey and lemon juice.
Soft boiled eggs? Bam

Fantastic machine
Spend more and get a vacuum insulated one.

My Zojirushi boiler temperature drops even when plugged in. And once the temp falls low it starts to reboil again so the boiler is boiling throughout the day on its own

Is it an issue with the temp sensor or is there some kind of heat leakage?

I have the Vacuum version, using it uninterrupted since January 2020. As many have noted, it holds the temperature you have set once it reaches there. The only time you will hear it "reboil" is if you lost power, otherwise it will not kick in ever once it reaches the temp. The manual says to use this every 3 months to descale and remove brown stains: Zojirushi #CD-K03EJU Inner Container Cleaner for Electric Pots, 4 Packets https://a.co/d/cciur1d

This is easily one of the most useful things I've purchased after seeing it on SD - and I've been using SD for more than 15 years.

I bought another Zojirushi water boiler/warmer like this five years ago after seeing it on SD (it's a larger vacuum sealed version). I didn't hook it up until last year, because of laziness, and because we were already using an electric kettle (also from SD) that takes only a couple of minutes to heat up the water.

My family now uses the Zojirushi water heater multiple times a day, and during the colder months, I have to refill this once daily (we are a big family). Getting a small amount of hot water for a drink is now just an instant and easy button press any time of the day, instead of microwaving or waiting for the kettle. As we use a reverse osmosis water system for drinking water (also from SD), I have not had any scale build up at all yet.

My whole family keeps asking me why I waited so long to hook it up. It so much better than an electric kettle. I would purchase another one at full price if our current one stops working.

Get the vacuum insulated one. Less heat loss

I've been using mine for a year now. I don't have any problems with mine. Mine is a vacuum insulated one though. I use this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/zoji...Id=5900221

I have one of these , can't fully get rid of Hard water build ups , be aware.

We use an osmosis water filter. I haven't cleaned my Zojirushi in a year and haven't seen any scaling or buildup at all so far.

Is this faster than an electric kettle? Don't gave a need, but I'm curious.

What's the best way to clean the inside once it starts to brown?

I bought the vacuum one some 20 years ago, and the instructions back then said to empty the tank nightly. A pain for sure, but mine still has a pristine inside.

I'm in 4 1. we had a Honeywell before that lasted about a year or so. it was great, but the dispenser stopped working and we got a refund. hopefully the fine Japanese engineering of the Zojirushi will make this worth the extra cost.
I had this one for 11 years and it still going strong

There's a cleaning mode. Requires 2 tbsp citric acid. https://youtu.be/eVKEH-yV_rI?si=ypSiswac6DLtEny-

What advantage does this have over an electric kettle that takes a couple minutes to boil water?
It's a trade-off. Instant comes at the price of maintaining hot water over many hours you aren't using it, despite how insulated the unit is. I don't like anything plastic in contact with holding water, so I use a stainless OXO PID gooseneck kettle that heats extremely fast, to any temp I want up to 212F, and is as instant as I require for most tea/coffee/broths I prepare. I seriously considered one of these, as well as the undersink style with faucet, and just couldn't reconcile doing it when the OXO is so damned fast and easy.
