$80 new is a stretch. They were $40 at Walmart for a while over 2 years ago. $20 is a good price if you plan to OpenWRT: https://github.com/dangowrt/owrt-ubi-installer

The $40 MR5500 on sale at w00t might be a better buy, even if it's Qualcomm based (the E8450 is Mediatek).

Been solid as my main router on OpenWRT for many years now. Everything is e-waste to you if you're chasing specs that end up being meaningless to you. I will say that you can just about cover 1400 sqft of you place it in the center of your residence, but not much more.

I posted this because it's a very cheap, fast upgrade option for anyone who needs a basic router with ethernet and a decent coverage area. The mesh options etc. are great, but as a standalone it's the perfect low dollar solution for the average home user and will outperform many ISP speeds. Basic setup is likely very simple for the non-tech-savvy user, as most Linksys products are.

What openwrt firmware are using?
Also, was the mesh setup easy to setup? Did you happen to use any online guides or tutorials to setup the mesh?

Advice is most appreciated ☺️
