This looks like a great way to repurpose any old SATA SSDs for people who have upgraded to m.2.

I have something similar. I noticed this has the same annoying bright blue led light lol ugh. I would do without the light.

Can always block it off with a dab of something or tape.

What's more important is which chipset? But can't be choosy at this price.

Most SSDs have a blue indicator light on them anyway. Sucks, but just put some electric tape over it.

That's my plan. Nothing special here, but definitely good enough for old SSDs.

For what it's worth, I bought two different models of the same brand and the drives never spin down. I only use them as backup for files and my cron jobs only run once a day and no reads keeping them spinning.

I would assume horrible. maybe you can drill holes in it.
for SSDs I wouldn't worry. but for mechanical HDD. I would use those open sata to USB without adapters.

at $5.50 each I can keep older SSD pernamently on a case.

Was about to buy this when I saw that it was 2.5".
I wish they had 3.5" enclosures at anywhere near this price!

You know the really annoying thing is I bought the Sabrent version of this for twice the price and I still have problems with it

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OJ3U...tle_1&th=1

In Sabrent's defense contacted them when I had problems with the initial enclosure and they sent me a brand new one as a replacement - still the same problem albeit one easily solved so far.. sometimes you have to pop open the case, take out the 2.5 form factor SSD drive and plug it back in.. and gosh darn it the Sabrent doesn't have a "customers normally keep that item" assurance like the Orico does .. so if that helps you make up your mind this might be more reliable than the Sabrent..

Paged through the amazon reviews which seem to be overwhelmingly positive.. doesn't do me much good since I now have two so-so enclosures lying around but for those of you on the fence for $5.50 you can repurpose those old 240 GB 2.5 form factor ssd drives you have laying around from over a decade ago that you outgrew as the 1 TB drives became less expensive if you're like me ...
