9k starting watts and ~5k running watts on NatGas

This is VERY tempting.

I torture tested this model with identical specs on natural gas after breaking it in. Ran my 3 ton A/C with soft start, every ceiling fan inside and out (5 fans), washer, gas dryer, microwave, dishwasher, every light in the house inside and out (all LED so super low draw), vacuum, refrigerator, garage chest freezer, two 65" TVs, and probably a few other items I'm forgetting. Zero issues. It comes close to max power when everything is running and the A/C initially kicks in, but in reality I would never have all of that running at once. After that initial A/C jolt, it runs at around 60%-70% according to the onboard meter. Backing off running absolutely everything in the house and using only the refrig, freezer, one TV, and A/C (more of a real life scenario in my home), I was around 30% capacity.
I haven't run this for several days as jchu14 did, only 1 day, but so far and very impressed. If you have a pair of larger A/C units, would probably have to manage which one is running (living space during the day, then turn off that breaker at night and switch on bedroom A/C).

4000w is a lot for a 3 ton AC. My 3 ton draws around 1900w running.
Probably has an older unit than you do

Thanks One other question, with me having 2 full breaker boxes for my house. Can 1 generator even run both or would I need 2. I understand it would need to cover the max running watts either way but wasn't sure if it can be wired to 2 panels at once.
As resident home, we only have 1 source come from the grid. Look at your picture, I think the LEFT PANEL is your MAIN PANEL. Because I see 2 middle big black wires go into it. That 2 big wires are maybe come from the grid. The RIGHT PANEL should be your SUB PANEL. The sub panel draw power from the main panel. If you could open the panel and see how the wiring, then you know which one is main and sub panel. Or you could do a test by TURN OFF MAIN SWITCH of MAIN PANE, and your house blackout everything. If you turn off the MAIN SWITCH in the SUB PANEL, and your house should have some electrics.

If you know which panel is MAIN PANEL, then you just connect the generator to your main panel. It will provide electric to your sub panel.

My house has a 4 ton Central AC unit and a 2.5 ton, is the 4000watts and 2500 watts ish for each of those the starting or the average run. I am assuming thats what they are at average so this likely couldn't handle those 2 things alone much less the other things in our house? For those that connect it into the house rather than powering a couple specific items, do you shut lots of other things off while it is connected?
Look on the label on your condenser units & note the LRA (locked rotor amps) value. I have a really old unit, LRA value is 95. Multiply (230v * .7) x (95A * .7) = 11kw used at startup. Buy & self install an EasyStart for $400, reduces the startup draw to 5kw (which works with a 9kW generator).

Can you run two and increase the Watt to be able to basically cover whole house? Are there professional installer available in NJ?
If the generator has built-in PARALLEL CONNECTION PORT, then you could connect 2 generators to get more power. But I don't see parallel connection port in this model. If you need more watts, then you need to buy a more powerful one.

Champion makes great stuff, I have two generators and they both run great, the older one is 11 years old now and starts on the first pull even after years of sitting. The key is to run them completely out of fuel before you put them up. Keep starting it until it won't run on full choke, then start a few more times.

Good deal. I paid about the same for the gas only version. Model # 100520 (7000W running) in 2020 .

I did change the bonded neutral to floating neutral for my manual transfer switch. The info was found on Champion's web site. I also purchased a GenTent for it.

If I had to find a fault with it, I wish the gas tank was a little bigger. Other than that I've been quite happy with it.

So tempting but seems like it may be cutting it too close to try and run on a 4 ton AC using NG…

I run a 5 ton AC with MicroAir soft starter on NG. The running watts of the compressor is low, 1-2k watts.

How much gas did you have to use to run your house on this? I have a 4 ton ac and am trying to figure out if I can use this if a hurricane comes this summer in FL.

Is this overkill for use during a power outage?

I would be most likely using propane as I'm a renter, also don't know what else I may need to go with this. In the case of a power outage it would need to power 1 refrigerator,1 freezer , ac internet and TV

Awesome deal. I got this generator last year and it ran my house with 3 ton AC with soft start for 4 days without a hitch after hurricane Beryl.

It's only rated 30amps, it was enough?

Thanks, do you have any idea what your LRA was before the soft starter? Mine is 124 which seems quite high, so I'm worried the MicroAir still wouldn't bring it down enough.

Great deal. I would jump on it except I already have a 4 yr old Champion 100520 inverter open frame (about 10% less capacity). I spent more than this, with a $190 natural gas conversion kit added in plus NG hoses.

Residential houses should only have one main panel. The other panel would be a sub-panel that adds more breaker slots. You would want to use only one big generator. If interlock is to-code in your area, it should be added to the panel where outside power is coming in.

Any electrician should have no problem doing the work if you don't feel comfortable with it.
