Thank you for reaching out to Follett Customer Support. Upon checking on your order, it shows it has been cancelled. The bookstore is running low on this item, and we expected new stock to arrive within up to 14 business days. The website allowed your order to be placed while inventory was still available, but as we continued fulfilling orders, the item went out of stock. That is the reason for it to be cancelled.

I ordered right after the deal came live and during the restock at midnight. Both orders got cancelled, and this was their answer after following up via email. I believe they only had like 5 iPads in stock.

May be they had only 5 in stock and 5 lucky people got it - so what?

There are other forums where this deal is discussed and I can see that many people have received it.

Personally for me in the previous fitbit deal - my order shipped after two weeks. Though there is a difference with this one - fitbit deal went to backordered right away. But it did ship after two weeks.

Edit: Since I received multiple PM's asking links to the other site, I want to clarify that the other site is not a deals site. Just a site which had a thread where people discussed this. People interpreted my message as I looked up another deal site which is not the case.

Just got fulfilment email for mine ordered day of deal as well
Got a tracking # Friday but still showing as label created but yet to be picked up. Wondering if they are struggling to find inventory as others mentioned.

Lol, so they're getting new stock but they're canceling your order because they don't want to honor the price they had because they have poor inventory management? What a joke on their part.

Spoke with the manager at my campus store. I now have an understanding of how the inventory system works.

If you are a student/staff affiliated with a school that uses Follett, then you are given a login that is linked to your learning management system (LMS). When you place an order via this login then you're buying directly from your local campus store for both pick-up and shipping.

If you are NOT using a school linked system (as most of you are) and you did not request store pick up, that order is given to a random location (campus store) for fulfillment.

Inventory is entirely dependent on each location reporting accurately. If your order went to a location that did not have enough inventory, then your order most likely was canceled. On the flip side, if a location had more inventory after orders were fulfilled, the system would show it back in stock once reported.

Regarding the speed of your orders - most campus stores have limited hours in the summer. This is especially true if your order was sent to a community college location for fulfillment as most are only open one (1) day per week.

Hope this helps everyone!

The above makes a lot of sense. I ordered from Houston but it shipped from New Mexico State. But there must be a super slow university rate for UPS shipping. My package which was in UPS hands on June 26 heading to CT has only made it as far as Maumee Ohio as of today and won't reach me till July 7.

Did you ask in-person? Maybe we can DM support to try to switch our orders to pickup?

I really don't understand peoples obsession with this deal. This is a university store site and people should be happy that they are not restricting others from ordering.

Now with multiple people calling and putting pressure, I will not be surprised if this privilege is lost for everyone.

Hello,

Unfortunately, we must cancel your recent order for an iPad due to it being out of stock. This was an older model that has been discontinued, therefore we will not be getting this item back in stock. You were not charged. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I got 2 out of 3 orders so I am happy

Funny enough..I have made 3 different orders, the other 2 worked but the one from my alma mater was cancelled lol.

However stop calling customer service and ruining deals for everyone.. Thanks!
